Juliancolton
Well technically its only a KU event if it makes the NESIS list. Even then, there's nothing to say that every storm NCDC has rated according to NESIS would be included in an updated Kocin and Uccellini book. bluewave
North carolina is great too. Currently driving to florida, very nice state. A bunch of new Yorkers are retiring down there. I know some people who retired to Cary and the houses are much cheaper than here on Long Island. Their only complaint was that they have to drive everywhere since the stores aren't in walking distance like they are here.

snywx
Some people here don't understand what a KU event is. 30" of snow at KSWF and 3" of rain from the same storm at KJFK is still a KU event. This is very true...

snywx
Yeah, I was surprised how much of a house that they were able to buy after selling here and living on a LI teachers pension. Many states down south including NC & FL are very pension friendly states. When you bring a NY pension down there as well you will live like a king/queen. Cost of living isn't even a fraction of ours. I have a good friend who pays 3000 a yr on property taxes down in GA on a 3500sq ft house w/ 10 acres of land lol.. Thats only a third of my taxes for the yr smh
