BristowWx
I am gonna say it right now.. Mark my words... We have at least a 50 50 shot of getting a 3 to 6 type event somewhere in the first two weeks of January. that would be cool. anything really because this is depressing. I know we can wait until Feb for snow but the longer we wait means spring is knocking on the door. We never have much chance to actually get sick of winter around here...more like begging it to come and stay for a while.

North Balti Zen
It looks like our chances for a measurable event increase dramatically as we move in to January... And then get even better through the first half of February. Then once we get in to march we will see a gradual warming trend Why yes, that seems a fair bet. The warming trend will continue into April and May, I would wager.
North Balti Zen
I blame the difficulty on getting snow in the area on the two versions of the GFS. Too much model confusion, the atmosphere doesn't know what to do.

Fozz
If it makes any of you feel any better, much of SNE outside the mountains has also had almost no snow this month, maybe an inch or two tops, if that. And unlike us, they actually expect snow in December based on climo. Lots of panic in that forum.

WxUSAF
don't diss santabomb! It's not even going to bomb. No bomb, no NAO pumping, just useless.
Ian
yeah maybe not.. tho we're getting a bit scientific. models still show it drop ~20+ mb in 24 and becoming quite strong.
CAPE
It's not even going to bomb. No bomb, no NAO pumping, just useless. We are never getting a -NAO again. Bombing lows fail. Monster -AO last winter, but QBO too positive, now QBO negative, still no blocking. I'm over it. +NAO it is.

Ralph Wiggum
We just hit the winter solstice and people are already jumping off bridges and cliffs in this subforum? I expect that in the New England group due to their climo and lack of snow, but not here. Where's Ji to give us a nice positive spin on things?
