I totally know its not realistic, as it almost never happens, climo, etc...but I love a moderate mid-late Dec snow. Nothing to do with Xmas or holiday spirit junk as I am not into that, just something about the feel of snow around the Solstice, with the really low sun angle.

Dec makes the winter for me for this reason, in addition to enhancing the Christmas season.  It's our best chance to keep a lasting snowpack w/o the ravaging effects of the sun.  In 2012, we kept snow cover for over a week with the temps barely ever crossing into sub-freezing territory.  I'd trade an entire winter for a good December... in a second.  Give me 6" of snow immediately followed by Dec '89 temps and I'd trade several entire winters.

Given past history, getting the scenario you describe does in fact trade several entire winters. Unfortunately we can't choose which one hits and the subsequent 3 that suck. Since last year was a hit then we should have known where we were heading this winter back in April.

I still think we (and yes, I do mean we as in all of us) have a shot at above normal snowfall this year... as far as I know, the most favorable month in El Ninos tends to be February. People are panicking because December has been mild and we're getting a rainy Christmas?

There will probably be a nice setup in early January, and who knows what will happen later...

I did.  Go look at the contest thread.   :(

Can't do anything about it except complain and LOL.

Well, and maybe this... :weep:
