87storms Posted December 18, 2014 Share Posted December 18, 2014 I wasn't too thrilled about the 50s temps in Vegas the next few days until I just looked at the forecast back home. That is just one miserable weather pattern we are stuck in. Not cold enough to snow but mostly chilly and breezy and/or cloudy it seems the past couple weeks. Santabomb is looking less impressive and after a seasonably cold Christmas day, a nice SE ridge develops on most guidance. SnowGoose69 Posted December 18, 2014 Share Posted December 18, 2014 I'd be lying if I said I was not starting to get a bit worried...the QBO had me concerned a bit in the fall but its becoming somewhat apparent its gotta be at least a big portion of the problem we're starting to see. Many GFS ensembles want to destroy the WRN Ridge by Day 13 or so and some event want a GOA low...impossible to see if its long term or just transitory at this range so no way we can really say punt this pattern change yet but there is also not enough evidence to say we are definitely going into the freezer. The Euro SE ridge idea is probably overdone as it continually overdigs stuff in the SW...a big reason it was too far west with the now dying Santa bomb initially. It's not that big of a deal- if I get no snow here it will be 3 of the last 4 winters here that were shutouts.
