yeah def a long shot.. i'm trying to be positive here guys. :D

If we get snow it would likely be some cool unconventional byproduct of a potent event. That would be kinda fun. Models have no idea how to handle the setup so we'll likely get all kinds of interesting solutions. Regardless of us, I hope the storm bombs like crazy and drives the biggest ridge into gl that we've seen since 2010.

I'm not really looking at d10-15 ensembles right now because much will depend on the evolution of the storm next week.

eh.. not really. yeah first 10 of march are better than first 10 of dec for snow.. but we have other issues that come to play then quite a bit around here.  if nothing else we're at least a few days into winter... ;)

yes I suppose it is winter. I grew up on Jersey shore then was in Hampton Roads for 10 years and then settled up here for the last 15 years when I got out of the Navy. None of these places are great for a snow fanatic. Hampton Roads was the worst especially south side where I lived. Spend one winter there and our region will feel like Caribou Maine. I remember this weather guy on tv who wore a snow pin when there was a remote possibility of snow and called it the snow hope index. Every time he wore it what little chance there was for snow seemed to vanish.

That system next week looks to be quite powerful. Never know what might happen.

Yup, never know with the weather. I never thought I would get 5-6 inches Christmas morning 2002 but we did and that was with a marginal airmass and I lived 16 miles  further south than I do now. However it's a lot easier for me or you to get a unexpected surprise from a system than it is for most of the others in the forum.

I've been trying to think of a December in which I didn't see even a flake of snow.  I honestly can't recall a single one.

What a disappointing 24 hours.  Not unexpected, but disappointing still.  Nothing like the possibility that 1/3 (and the 1/3 I care the most about) of your winter goes by with absolutely nothing to show for it.
