Does central southern PA weather have much in common with the weather in Fredericksburg or Richmond or Harrisonburg...or DC, for that matter?  Should the regional forums be decided by climo, rather than political boundaries?

I think regional forums should be technically decided by boundaries, but those who live outside but close to the boundaries should be able to stop by and even participate in the discussions once in a while, especially if they share climo with parts of this region.

But I also get Matt's point that it doesn't look good when someone from York county drops by mainly when it's snowing and he's getting raked, while he doesn't regularly participate otherwise.

My god, does the who can/can't post in the forum have to be brought up everyday? It just gets so old sifting through the same posts every storm.

Yeah I dont see the big deal with posters from other forums...I mean yeah we have the tele-cant-connect 2 dots type posters, but most are fine and as long as they are adding to the discussion, meh who cares. Even within the MA subforum the specific regions within it are quite disparate climo-wise.

It depends where. At my "hilltop" I can actually see into Baltimore and Harford County from my deck, especially the cell towers in MD. The climate here is the same as Parrs Ridge. In very marginal events where 1 degree is the universe we have accumulating snow while ares 10 miles to the north see mix, and 10 miles to the south mix. The immediate Mason-Dixon Line is a micro climo on its own. Manchester, Parkton, Freeland, New Freedom to Stewartstown are as elevated as can be outside of western Md or Western Pa.

This is the point I make time and time again (maybe not eloquently), but people want to box me on the ears.  Yet no one questions zwyts on it.  Like I said...

There's an easy fix for that:

The people from outside the MA forum's political boundaries shouldn't post here.

I don't mind others posting from out of the MA, however, one of the things that makes this forum good is that many of us even in this forum do not regularly post in the active storm threads because we know that what we would say has already been or will be said by someone more knowledgeable.  There are several poster from out of the region that post here that I enjoy reading, but some of the turds that just pop in to state the obvious or ask imby questions are the ones that need to quietly sit down and just read.

Except that it is the same area and region. For many on the fringe there is no distinction. I have DC firefighters, Baltimore Police etc, for neighbors. So when you spend 90% of your existence within the political boundary and the political boundary can be literally walked into from your house your weather interests are here plain and simple.

You make a good point. I really don't understand how someone gets enjoyment out of delivering bad news, especially when there not part of the group.

I just want to make sure that folks didn't miss the edit I made at the bottom like a minute after I posted this.

I am posting from my phone and when I saw that I edited it, it was posted in error when I hit send twice and the keys stuck. My tone is not sarcastic, antagonistic, or destructive. I invite you to join in my tone and spirit.

Only if you post regularly, and not just when you have deck pics of 5" and SN while DC is getting globs that barely stick to trashcans.

I can only speak for myself, but I never mind anybody coming in here to post except when they come only to post negative comments.

We aren't a bunch of idiots.  If a model, or a pattern, or a radar, etc. looks bad, we are smart enough to know that without somebody else coming to tell us that.

Except that I subscribe to the notion of read more post less. I am constantly away from computers and any model analysis I could offer would be outdated by hours by the time I could post. I primarily post when I can offer something interesting like an observation, or something that has not been covered. I work 10 to 12 hour days away from home, so I often post from my phone when something happens like snow. My posts cover observations on the Mason-Dixon Line, Hunt Valley, and Baltimore City where I live and work. They are not trolls, but ground truth images of what is going on in the area. When we have a true Miller A that hits you first or harder I love all the pictures anyone provides. Last year when I was fringed I still appreciated the observations from south of Baltimore in March. I guess it's all about what you want from the forum.
