anyone with access to the Euro want to clue me in to what is says for Christmas eve/Christmas Day for the southern part of Illinois? I"m flying there Christmas eve.

Looks like temperatures in the 30s with wraparound snow showers from the Santabomb on Christmas Eve, then temperatures around freezing with better weather on Christmas Day.

Of course, that's an operational model prog for a week out, so it's almost certainly wrong.

Amos just go outside and pop and umbrella open and the mother nature will fly you up there for free. Glad I want be on a plane Christmas eve day in all that turbalannce. Anyway may get lucky on way up toward Mt airy in the a.m and catch a few flakes. Want be suprised if some get sites in the triad saturday morning.

Yeah no joke.... I'm hoping as we get a little closer to the storm airlines will start asking people to change their flights like they did the weekend before turkey day. I'm off Tuesday and if I can get a flight out that day I'm all over it.

Thanks James! That is sort of what I was thinking. Wind will be the biggest issue I think. Just hoping to have a safe flight at this point with as little turbulence as possible.

Man, it is really quiet today. I'll be glad when we get a legit threat to follow inside 7 days.  I am going to be anxious to track something after Christmas. January and February are very boring months without winter storms to track.

Hopefully another 7-10 days and we can start tracking something.  The good news is NOAA's site is having problems again so probably won't be any 18z runs, and who knows maybe 0z runs.  Get a break from the model watching.

Long range forecast.

Baby boom in 9 months.

Its N Korea's fault.

Been out of he loop for most of 48 hours (work).

Other than Baby Doc East keeping the lights out in North Korea, at Sony, and the GFS Para (hee hee) - where's the place to start to get caught up?

Eyes are so tired I can't read through pages banter, and the brain so tired I probably couldn't distinguish trees and forest, even if I could read all of the last day's posts.

Someone please - if a summary has been posted, or a good discussion posted that sums it up at the present time, please point me in that direction.

Much appreciated!

The CIPS composite that Grit posted pretty much says the same. The blues are everywhere, yes, but the strongest signal is in the central part of the country, meaning a storm track over or west of the area...at least that's how I interpret that map. We're starting to see some agreement on that idea. How long it lasts is anyone's guess.

you will get your snow, don't worry. Pizza too. What did you eat tonight? I just picked up fatz.

Nothing has changed. Still waiting. If you took another couple of days and came back, we'd probably still be at the same place. Good pattern incoming in about 10 days.

Yeah, I think by March my area in the east will work into a snow pattern. I'd be super excited if I lived in north TX, MS, AL, LA, AR, OK, western and central TN and northeast of there.

Had Hibachi Express tonight. I love that white sauce stuff.
