I blame this crud winter so far on cold November. It's the worst. Can't cliff dive yet though, hopefully we get everything to switch/pendulum swing in late Jan. See where we are on 1/15. I'm ashamed, but I'm starting to root for a SSW and hope it stays on our side of the globe. Unicorns are our only hope!!

The historical facts show that cold Novembers during similar ENSO have been partially correlated to colder DJF's than warm Novembers have. I've already researched that and provided the evidence. Of course, you're referring to only the winter so far and it obviously still could end up colder than normal overall.

So far this year not counting Nov we had one storm pop up on the euro that was.like 8 days out if not more. We started a thread and it's DOA within 2 cycle runs 24hrs. That along with 2 snow flurry events. If we ate sitting here 31 days from now and not only still pitching a shutout but haven't had any chases in the fantasy range by then, all I can say is watchout!

1) Good grief , Iso, do you think you posted enough smilies? The thread is loading very slowly now. If anyone replies to him, please don't include his post in your reply.

2) My Peppermint Patty isn't going anywhere. It has zero effect (positive or negative) on the weather.

I added in the Avatar thing just before I posted to have a little fun. Your Peppermint Patty can stay forever, it's the one down in Waycross I worry about....

No, but metalic just sounds miserable in general with his posts.

And I am not being a weenie saying it's going to snow and snow a lot. I just don;t get all the gloom and doom. Even if it doesn't snow, so what?

Agreed. Even though most here including myself love snow, so what if it doesn't snow? Wow, Brick, is that really you?

Can you tell us, on average, the temperature departures from average for each month in the DJF's during that situation?

I still don't think this is like 2011/12 though. That was...just....horrible...from...start...to...finish. Only thing we could hope for all winter was a good ULL and even those were huge duds when we got them.

Oh, I agree completely.  I was mostly talking about no fantasy storms showing up on the models that year.  I didn't mean to imply this is going to be another 11/12.

Man how many people on this forum think their climate is equivalent to that of Minneapolis? Seems winter is canceled every year in December because some have not been able to keep a snowpack.

Winter thus far has been a huge letdown based on the preseason predictions by many mets of epic cold and snowfall.  This winter is also been lame even comparing it to typical climo of SE cities.  Also as far as the eye can see is lame patterns with little to no chances for a snowstorm.  The pessimism is justified and winter has sucked even by SE standards so far.

I bet you're so fun to be around.

The banter is strong today folks!

Chirstmas decor is up, kids are away for a few hours and it is lunch time.

GFS is showing some great cold number on the medium range which is solid since I got to run in short sleeves today on the 30th of December! It was cold but not cold enough.

Also CR, I loved the cliff Climber dude! Classic ;)

you just went went thru one of the coldest Novembers on record. You still have your top 3 snowiest months ahead of you. What do you average 2-3 inches of snow per year? That's easily attainable.

All of the above is correct....  I don't have a clue what the later half of Jan and beyond will provide for my area.  I have cancelled the first 10 days of January after that who knows....  The Weeklies and CFS don't paint a great picture but honestly I believe after 10-15 days it's nearly impossible to know what is coming with any kind of certainty beyond flipping a coin.  I haven't cancelled winter but to say winter to date hasn't been disappointing would be wrong.  We were supposed to be buried under mile thick glaciers according to the pre-season forecasts.  What the heck happened?
