The big problem is always having to wait 2 years to get a game on PC. It really sucks that PC's have so much more horsepower but sales dictate almost everything good be designed to run on a PS or an Xbox first.  It should be designed through a PC interface and then shift down to a Xbox/PS....you would probably end up with much better games.

I actually agree with this. However, I'm content with the XB1 and it's easy interface and structure.

Marietta is being just as guilty as not letting it go. And I guess all those times Isopycnic was being rude and jerkish was just light banter, but nothing is ever said about that. Seems to be a double standard at play here.

It never ceases to amaze me how people seem to think forums should be removed of politics. It's made up of humans. Betcha at your work there are people who have been around for years that can get away with 500% more than a brand new intern. You tend to earn that right after awhile.

How much do you end up spending to keep the PC compatible to new games? It may not be much at all - I literally just don't know.

You have to keep in mind that the games that come out on PC/Consoles/Or unique to PC are generally much higher end.  So in theory, to play at the xbox graphic level through it's lifespan, it's common to not have to upgrade the graphics card for a long time.  Much longer than when the new console comes out even.  Usually you can stay up to date on most games for about 5 years or even more if you're satisfied at playing the games on a lower quality setting as you'd see on the console.

The problem comes in when you want to have the latest and greatest pc part to always have amazing quality graphics.  Then it can get quite pricey.  An upgrade once every 3 years generally.  Of the CPU/Video Card/Ram/Motherboard.  There is always going to be something that will bottleneck you when you want the latest and greatest game settings.

I understand that, but it's not Marietta that wants to continue this conversation after I said to take it elsewhere.  Now I suggest you let it go too  ;)

Don't get me wrong I much prefer playing my PS3 over a PC game... just noting the issue with PC gaming. Also marketing kind of forces companies to hold off releases of a PC game. If they put out the PC game first tons of internet folks would be pointing out all the ways the PS and Xbox games are crappy compared to the PC game. Gotta let that blow over and then release to avoid it.

There are many games that come out on PC first though.  The last one mainly that comes to mind is Diablo 3.  Personally, I'm not very interested on the games that come on console first.  Like Grand Theft Auto was originally a PC game but now is console first.  I personally hate the game. lol.  COD, BF I thought were released about the same time.

Not sure about specific games other than Halo being console specific always.

I built a system from the ground up about five years ago for about 1,000.  I just spent about 350 to upgrade the Video card and upgraded to a SDD, that was a year ago.  My system can handle anything I could throw at it on high settings.  It should be that way for at least another 3 years or so.  After my video card becomes less and less powerful over the next few years it may be time to build from scratch again.

When I do a build I make sure that I can upgrade the thing to last me 8-10 years.

Agreed, it's a bit annoying.  MY PC has hardware that would blow a PS4 and Xbox 1 out of the water but there are latterly no games that could take full advantage of the parts I have in it.

A lot of higher end computers made like 4 years ago can still run new higher end games now.....only thing needing an upgrade would probably be a high end video card.

exactly man, just did that about a year ago and am now back to beast status on my PC.

I know a rich guy who had 4 Geforce Titans in his PC.  Literally, there was something wrong with him.

lol at least that subreddit is amusing!  Don't go to r/weather.

Reddit's weather section makes me want to literally tear the internet down.  I didn't know so many weather channel fans can repeat the local forecast over and over and prove why people with meteo knowledge are absolutely wrong.

I just find it plain boring....and for the amount of people on reddit I seem to have more knowledge of weather than 98% of posters there which just blows my mind.

LMAO, I know that guy...  It's pretty funny the money some folks spend.  You get to a tipping point way before that where spending anymore money will not net you much benefit.  I think my system is pretty close to that point.  I currently run an i5  (my bottle neck if you could say I have one) but the chip is five years old.  It's just not worth the money it would cost right now to upgrade my motherboard and CPU chip for what would be very little performance boost.  Some people don't have anything better to spend their money on I guess.  LOL

I respect Charlie for trying to do things the right way, though.

I will give him major credit for that. He had a mess to clean up.

The truth is, we aren't far from being a legit top 15 program. Mack just didn't recruit for the post V. Young and C. McCoy eras and it's hurt the last few years.

Give us a couple more seasons.

I think you'd see a substantial upgrade all around with an i7 and something like a hero board.  Seems like a new board/cpu comes out every 6 months these days.  They should just make chips that are really fast once every cpl years.. but its all about that money for the super pc elitists.

Edit: my amd 8350 for $140 is quite a bit faster than the i5... and i have a water block with stock speeds.. HM I need to change that soon.

I been tempted sir....  but then I need new ram, I think I'm still on DDR2, aren't they up to like DDR4 MB's now?  I think I am going to scrap what I have in a few years and go with an all new rig when my Video card starts to weaken.  Or next year you will see me piece mealing my system again.  I thought 6 and 8 cores were getting ready to take over and I also thought there was a new MB architecture coming....  Or have I already missed all of those releases?

The 8350 processor I have now is 8 core.  Lots of changes since the i5.  DDR2 is getting dated.  You're gonna be better off building a new.  What video setup?  PCI express 3.0 is out now.

I'll shoot you a PM later when I get home with my specs.  Maybe you can help me a bit with some stuff here.  I can't even remember my current card.  It's not a beast but not cheap either and less than a year old.
