2015 getting close to wrapping up the first 1/3 of the year (Jan-Apr). Here's the top 10 coolest January-April mean average temperatures for Indianapolis (since 1872).

1) 31.6˚ in 1912

2) 32.0˚ in 1875

3) 32.1˚ in 1978

4) 32.3˚ in 1885

5) 32.7˚ in 1979

6) 32.9˚ in 2014

7) 33.6˚ in 1904

8) 33.9˚ in 1940

9) 34.0˚ in 2015 thru 4/22

10) 34.1˚ in 1936, 1980

2015 should move up the list a little, as normal to cooler than normal temps will be the rule for the rest of April (this April running well above normal thus far).

April 2015 will finish +2˚ or better at IND (thru 4/24 the temp departure is +3.4˚). And with that, you have to go back to September 2013 for the last month that had a +2˚ or higher departure.

Strike that. Last 11 days of negative daily temps brings the final April departure down to +1.5˚. There's always May...
