usedtobe
Radar and the HRRR say I get flurries soon and that they last an a couple of hours. As for the torch, I honestly can't remember anyone forecasting one. Maybe I don't pay enough attention to the threads or maybe I pay too much attention to them. Fozz
I think it was mostly Phineas and a few others talking it up to beat it down. Terms like "awful pattern" or "above average chance of + departures" mean "torch" in the minds of many. Sometimes I fall for it too.

PhineasC
I think it was mostly Phineas and a few others talking it up to beat it down. It was really just the slightly hysterical upper air pattern talk. Last winter it happened too. People seemed to miss the storms because they assumed the various analogs and 10 day model progs meant it was impossible. Warm-ups so far this winter (and really since the summer) have been muted once they got here despite what the models said. There was definitely talk of the first two weeks of December being pretty warm. I won't dig up the posts because I greatly respect those with the balls to make a call. But I can still poke some fun.
