powderfreak
Pretty awesome how we were at 5F at 7pm with calm winds...and now at 8pm it's 15F with 10G22 winds. Nice 10F rise in an hour. If it goes calm we'll probably go back down to like 3F haha. High of 16F today at MVL.

TalcottWx
Believe it or not, Boston buoy is about the same temp as this time last year. Was thinking about water temps but couldn't remember what they were this time last year. That's kinda odd that the temps are the same. You would think it'd be warmer this year.

Lets do this. When I saw those color shadings I figured it was like 30C below normal. Why do they need a separate shading for every 0.5C? It makes it look record breaking. Me likey snow No reason to get wound up one way or the other yet, should be good soon This pattern should give you a good event or two on the S. Coast. Maybe get deep enough cold next week to enjoy some arctic sea smoke.
FRWEATHA
Arctic sea smoke is only enjoyable when it's creating OES snow onshore IMO.

Randy4Confluence
3 cheers for the mets who've not waivered on a pattern change in the face of weenies like me melting down recently. Although admittedly, if I come up empty over the next 2 weeks, i may lose it again...although I'll do my best to contain it.

Rarely does it come in or leave without a storm. Then whatever falls usually sticks around. Sure, you can get screwed but I love seeing Bos harbor freeze over. Usually signs of an epic winter. HIPPYVALLEY
Arctic sea smoke is only enjoyable when it's creating OES snow onshore IMO. Cool to see as it doesn't happen every year. I remember as a kid going to my Nana's house in Mattapan on Christmas and being amazed at the "Smoke" on Dorchester Bay. Maybe Christmas 1976? I remember the brakes on the old Chevy station wagon being frozen that morning.

I'm not positive it was Christmas day in 76. Could have been sometime in Jan. as we went to visit like once a month. Yeah, somewhere between 79-81 was a brutal cold Christmas. Will could tell us for sure.

FRWEATHA
Well Jan. '77 was brutally cold across the MW and East. That I do remember. That's when Buffalo had that incredible blizzard. I remember seeing that on the news at the time. I could imagine the field day the polar vortex hypsters would have had then.
