Damage In Tolland
vodka cold backside, these are anomalies, when you get that kind of 850 anomaly in Jan that is vodka cold We'll need snowcover to have those verify. Hopefully the model is seeing that and factoring it in for the cold #'s

Its 850 anomalies, don't think they will vary much with Eastern Quebec province under 2-3 feet of snow, obviously if you look at the anomalies predicted its cold even to the coast. CoastalWx
At least the boring pattern is over. Active with plentiful cold. Yeah and if this weekend doesn't end up wintry as far as the low track goes, nothing changes. You could think of it as a bonus if you get anything frozen. powderfreak
seems about right, can't imagine you are that much less than ALB, maybe a degree or 2, also thats - 18 anomoly I usually think of BTV as being 5C colder than ALB latitude at H85...certainly thought more than a degree or two. That's the I-90 region.

ORH_wxman
I agree that the -20C anomaly over N VT does look a little suspicious. That would have to mean like -30C 850 temps and it doesn't seem we get quite that cold. Avg 850 temps over N VT in early January are right around -10C or -11C (at least 1981-2010 mean)

Hopefully the models come around a bit... that's like a worst case scenario for me through D10.Yeah, all the major models kind of shifted away from significant snows in SNE for the 3/4 system. It does look pretty damn cold on either side of the system, but meh if its on either side of the cutter. I know you mentioned this in the other thread, but I'm concerned for SNE in the snow department. I could see CNE and NNE cashing in and south of say the Ma/Nh border struggling a bit. We will see, at least it looks cold if nothing else Edit: more like pike south

I don't really see this as cold and snowless south of NH to be honest.

I should have said pike south, that probably would be more accurate and closer to the truth.I could really see CNE and NNE cashing in. I also could really see this area continue to struggle on the wrong side of some storms, and without any blocking, I dont think there is much to be excited about in the near future CNE and NNE are a different story obviously
