of course ORH did,the rest of us, Jerry and I had bupkis.

This ain't no 2014 Jan , nice departures

Logan airport sucked in Dec '68, but just inland in metro-west BOS was fine...I guess down in your hood in CT it sucked too, but the Reading and Bedford coops has snow cover too for that stretch, so I'd bet dollars to donuts that Jerry's hood did as well considering that even Logan managed a few smattering of days of snow cover in the 2nd half of that month. That ice storm on 12/30 was quite close to the coast too.

At any rate, wasn't claiming the month was great, but was claiming it was better than Dec 2014 if you are a winter wx lover.

Jerry March 58 was meh in Boston, mid month 4 ,the 57-58 season was literally one storm mid Feb,sucky depth days and borderline ratter if not for the KU

A KU can make a season. Case in point 96-97. 57-58 went into January with a T and finished near normal. I consider that a win. 1977-78 was pretty weak into January and then exploded to double normal for the season.

I wouldn't have liked it, good thing I was celebrating my first birthday the week prior. My mom has pics of that storm. KU in mid Feb with little to no snow all winter is like winning the NIT. Feels good at the time but when you look back it's meh. 77-78 is a horse of a different color.

'57-'58 was quite a bit better just off the water too...the Logan number is pretty lousy relative to average versus other areas. The old reliable Walpole coop had over 63 inches and the old Weston coop right on 128 there next to Newton had just under 60". Of course, go a little further inland and it was a blockbuster.

Boston sucks

More like Logan airport...west side of BOS can be drastically different.

Though some years it doesn't make much difference...but other years it can be huge. '57-'58 was one of those years and so was '60-'61 if we are talking about that general era.

don't think I have changed, exhaustive day of play outside today, finished up with a fire pit burned the Christmas Tree

Amazing there were not more fires back in the day with these trees and the older lights, They burn pretty quickly, i usually dump then in the fire pot during summer for some quick entertainment

Even in all snow events, it's always going to run lower with wind issues. Sometimes the issues with snowfall and the lower amounts at the coast are not because of the lack of precipitation in the frozen, but because of wind issues...etc.

Boston had 44 but 24 inches of precip Dec-March. 20 of that snow in one storm, even if snowfall was missed depth sucked at Logan, just inland was 60 s in Emass. Atlantic must have been torched, coastal areas were screwed pretty much until the KU. That's a lot of precip, Jan had over 9 with only 6 inches of snow at the GON of NE Mass

I guess my point is that in general even if it's 15F..snow amounts may very well be "low."

I can picture that winter living on the CP near the ocean, torrents of rain either front end SWFE or back end ULL type stuff, an inch or so all winter OTG then boom the KU but although I'd take it, no thanks on all the wash outs. Going to check to see how CON etc did, seems like N pike did well

Sounds like what I dealt with for a chunk of 2002-2003. Of course I'd take a turnaround like that any day.

'57-'58:

ORH: 97.5"

Ashburnham: 114.2"

Nashua: 75.8" (some missing data though, so likely >80")

CON: 67.0" (this number actually surprised me a bit)

Groton, MA coop (west of Lowell): 80.2" with a bit of missing data
