Ginx snewx
Well feb 58 delivered 20 at BOS in that big KU and march was prolific.odd setup in Dec 57, ULLs to Boston SW, you had the JUJU then
ORH_wxman
of course ORH did,the rest of us, Jerry and I had bupkis. This ain't no 2014 Jan , nice departures Logan airport sucked in Dec '68, but just inland in metro-west BOS was fine...I guess down in your hood in CT it sucked too, but the Reading and Bedford coops has snow cover too for that stretch, so I'd bet dollars to donuts that Jerry's hood did as well considering that even Logan managed a few smattering of days of snow cover in the 2nd half of that month. That ice storm on 12/30 was quite close to the coast too. At any rate, wasn't claiming the month was great, but was claiming it was better than Dec 2014 if you are a winter wx lover. weathafella
Looking at the dailies from 1957-58 we have pretty good concordance with this year presuming the temperature progs are close.
Cold Miser
Rather pleasant, Spring like day today. I think the voles were out again, as well as some springtime looking bugs. The weedscape looked rather green as well.

dryslot
It was just a simpler life back in the 50's and 60's, Even in winter we were outside, Never mind play 60 today, It was play 480 back then..............

Case in point 96-97. 57-58 went into January with a T and finished near normal. I consider that a win. 1977-78 was pretty weak into January and then exploded to double normal for the season. My mom has pics of that storm. KU in mid Feb with little to no snow all winter is like winning the NIT. Feels good at the time but when you look back it's meh. 77-78 is a horse of a different color. '57-'58 was quite a bit better just off the water too...the Logan number is pretty lousy relative to average versus other areas. The old reliable Walpole coop had over 63 inches and the old Weston coop right on 128 there next to Newton had just under 60". Of course, go a little further inland and it was a blockbuster. ORH_wxman
Boston sucks More like Logan airport...west side of BOS can be drastically different. Though some years it doesn't make much difference...but other years it can be huge. '57-'58 was one of those years and so was '60-'61 if we are talking about that general era. CoastalWx
Storrs had 54, Boston is the GON of NE Mass Even in all snow events, it's always going to run lower with wind issues. Sometimes the issues with snowfall and the lower amounts at the coast are not because of the lack of precipitation in the frozen, but because of wind issues...etc.
