TauntonBlizzard2013
Kind of a side note. Anyone in this area recommend a place to get a bed? I've had my current set for about 3 years and quite frankly its falling apart and is pretty much garbage. The box spring is messed up in like 4 places and the mattress is only like 4-5 inches thick so you know it. I have the frame, its a queen, so really I just need a mattress and box spring set. Ideally I would like to find something decent for under like $1000 dollars. Any suggestions on brands or places to buy?

I will never return to standard mattresses again.

Wow really? I've honestly never heard of anyone approving of water beds. I'm open to just about everything though. I was looking at bob-o-pedics. They run about $599 for the mattress box spring set. I know if I fish around there is always a deal to be had. I don't really have the $$ for it, but you can only take a messed up bed for so long. Bobs quality isn't all that great, we go to Rotmans or Jordans, we've had one from Rotmans for 10 years and its still in great shape.

Ask for if they have the "additional xx% off" coupons to get an additional discount. I bet you can get a good bed for under 1K. Spend 15 minutes googling for "best mattresses"

Baroclinic Zone
me but I feel that a suppressed OTS non-event is less likely, right now, based on what I see in the overnight runs. I'd say odds are 80/20 on some sort of system hitting the Northeast.

radarman
At the least, it will feel very much like deep winter. Time to ice up the ponds. Agree. One potential silver lining of this recent warm spell is it did away with some of the lousy white ice that had formed in the colder spots. Should reform as black during these mostly calm radiating nights. Saturday could be top notch skating if we can pull the necessary 3".

ORH_wxman
Let's rile up the snow weenies. 10888937_735900303171010_402210389592867586_n.jpg 0 of those years finished above average at ORH. The funny part is I'm not that concerned by it either given the pattern going forward...that tune may change though by mid-January. There were some other years that barely missed that list...most notably 1965 and 1957...both which ended up above average at ORH after catastrophic Decembers. 1957-1958 ended with 97.5" despite having a seasonal total of 2.2 inches on January 7th. tamarack
Manhattan has been highly urbanized dating back to and beyond the 1930s. The only significant changes since then are the much larger areas of pavement in towns adjacent to NYC itself, and I don't know how much effect that would have on KNYC. They recorded -2 in 1994, tying their coldest since 1943, and two days at 1F in 2004. Given the warming trend over the past 30 years, it would take an extraordinary scenario to get a subzero temp there, strong CAA with no reliance on radiational cooling.
