midatlanticweather
Blowpacalypse Living where I do gets me a funnel effect on winds. I have had one heck of a time keeping the lights from blowing off my roof. THIS KIND OF WIND would do it!
Wonderdog
Looks like from 12/30 outward we have fresh cold air in the region or on our dpoorstep. Now we can start to realistically track storms. If of course, the models are right about the cold air. Looks like more than a couple of chances. BristowWx
If we are to believe it...we should have WSWs if Monday Euro held as we speak..this does look better with model consensus of some change

Bob Chill
Euro ensembles are better.Looks similar to the gfs op with an overunning setup. If things go down as advertised I could envision relatively narrow stripes of precip oriented wsw-ene. Just need to be on the cold side. And not get whiffed to the south...Eta: euro op may be too se ridge happy but I doubt it matters. We don't stand much of a chance until after the deep push of cold gets here. Euro improved at h5 late in the run from last night. Much better ridge out west and pretty cold.

Probably a lock that it gets here. Gotta hope the flat se ridge doesn't become unflat and that energy doesn't dig to the 4 corners first. Sne would love that though

Fozz
Jan will be rockin Yep... my understanding is that we just need the AO and/or EPO to tank really hard so that we get persistent and long-lasting cold that will have the tendency to come back over and over again this winter. PhineasC
A two week period with a HECS and 6-10 storm would make this winter memorable and put it in the books. That's all it takes around here.
