donsutherland1
Some photos of the Long Island Sound from Rye, NY (2/21/2015). There was a Bald Eagle in the distance. This is the first time I've seen such a bird on the Sound. Typically, they reside up the Hudson River, but their population has been growing in recent years. NorthShoreWx
Great shots Don! Love the Eagle. Are those the Northport stacks in the background?. They look so close; gotta love the depth perception with the zoom.

The number of stacks and the stripes both fit the description and Northport is almost directly across the Sound from Rye.

NorthShoreWx
Thanks NorthShoreWx. I believe that they are. The number of stacks and the stripes both fit the description and Northport is almost directly across the Sound from Rye. Very cool. I pulled out the map and it looks like the beach in Rye is about 16 miles just north of west of the Northport stacks. I've been playing around with the 18 - 55 kit lens forever. One of these days I am going to invest in some different glass. I was out at the bluffs in Kings Park this evening, but only had my cellphone with me. Hopefully some of those pics will be salvageable because it was pretty cool.

chietanen
I was going to enjoy all those photos but a couple had a time stamp on them... Good stuff! haha, thanks, the problem is the time stamp is permanent unless I want to photo shop or crop the picture, so it's kind of a nuisance to me. NorthShoreWx
Love them, with or without the time stamp. A few remind me of a western high desert. The treeless rock faces help with that effect.
