Chinook
What winter events? It has been spring for 37 days in my book. I can't see the 12z Euro precip until Wunderground.com has it.
castlerockwx
What winter events? It has been spring for 37 days in my book. I can't see the 12z Euro precip until Wunderground.com has it. Their have been multiple winter storms the Euro has had for the Front Range that never materialized. The GFS has been superior so far.
huronicane
I started with rain last night then switched over to heavy S***T. Snow falling right now in Louisville, and you can hardly see the mountains, so maybe we'll get a heavier burst shortly.
Chinook
Just think, 8 years ago, in 2006, we got 28" in 8 days. I think there was more in Denver with the double blizzards.
castlerockwx
Picked up a quick 1.5" or so in about an hour. Light snow continues, with another heavier band trying to move in. Fun night on the Palmer Divide.
Chinook
I think I got 1/3" in my backyard. Now, the winter just isn't going well if I post about 1/3" of snow.
Chinook
Snow reports in the mountains showed a few inches to 20(ish) inches for most areas. A few 30" areas around Steamboat and Snowy Range Ski Area WY.
Chinook
We are getting some wind gusts of 50mph in Fort Collins. Wind report of 67mph at Limon, Colorado I think there will be 1-3" in Fort Collins and Denver on Christmas. I wouldn't be surprised if there were areas of less than 1". The 12z NAM has about 0.4" of QPF for Denver, so there could be 4-5" for Denver The models are advertising a snow event and then a sprawling 1040mb-1050mb high around December 30th (168 hours.) The GFS even has part of Wyoming at -41 degrees in a week.

castlerockwx
Section of Boulder/Denver discussion today Will be interesting to see the afternoon shifts wording. 18z NAM looks pretty good for the Front Range. If it holds the course we could be looking at our first WSW (maybe advisory) tomorrow afternoon.
frontranger8
Winter Storm Watch in effect for the Front Range, 6-8", more in the foothills. Starting Christmas around dinner time. And if the Euro is correct, we go into the deep freeze next week.

castlerockwx
Woohoo. A winter storm warning on Christmas. I think we end up on the low side of the warnings totals, here in Castle Rock though. Enjoy everyone!

Chinook
You don't want to look at the extended range temp forecasts. This one shows -24C here at 168hrs. That's so cold, I forgot how to convert it to Fahrenheit. Still looking possible for some snow on the 29th-30th.

Chinook
It is going very nicely here. This was from about 2:30. Snow has been falling quickly since then.
Chinook
Snowiest Christmas ever! I measured 8.0" in my yard. This picture shows a little more because the ruler smashed down into the grass a little much. This beats my previous most snowy Christmas (2002, Toledo Ohio) when we had 7". Snowiest Christmas I've experienced was 2007 here (which is also Denver's snowiest on record), with 9". I have 6", but it's really slowed up the past hour. Models are saying light snow will continue off an on all the way through early afternoon tomorrow, though.

Chinook
I got 9" in my yard and 7-9" in the neighborhood. I think the next storm could be another 5-10" with high snow ratios. It will be a colder air mass.
Chinook
Looks like the Mountain West will be getting payback for the 7-9 degrees above normal that some areas have had this month.
Mercurial
Are the any sub-sonic reindeer taxiing at the airport? lol nah. Fortunately DEN deals with the snow like a well oiled machine... nice airport too considering there's got a huge NWO secret basement. It was nice to see my first snowstorm in 3 years, at any rate.
