SnoSki14
There wasn't a lot of cold air to work with period. Even places who received a few inches managed to only get down to 31-32F if that.
NYC Weather Lover
Pretty cool half a mile south of the lie nothing at all half a mile north and there was a decent coating. Even more so then further north in seacliff so the sound was having an effect right along the shore I live just south of the LIE and nothing at all here. Barely any flakes mixed in. I bet Great Neck walks away with a little more than half an inch.
rcad1
We had a coating of sleet where im located about a half mile south of lie near Roslyn but it got washed away when we changed back to heavy rain.

Guest Pamela
At the onset, I thought the jackpot for our CWA would be in Putnam County...a county that does not seem to have a huge number of vocal weather enthusiasts. 000NOUS41 KOKX 262114PNSOKXCTZ005>012-NJZ002-004-006-103>108-NYZ067>075-078>081-176>179-270908-PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENTSPOTTER REPORTSNATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY414 PM EST WED NOV 26 2014THE FOLLOWING ARE UNOFFICIAL OBSERVATIONS TAKEN DURING THE RECENTSTORM THAT HAS BEEN AFFECTING OUR REGION. WeatherFox
The trend is our friend enjoy the holiday . The silver lining is the well traveled roads are safe. see ya I miss Whitestone. So far 0.2" measured at Central Park. It is a nice 60 degrees down here in Florida. Happy Thanksgiving!
IsentropicLift
Still a light rain/snow mix here. 3.0" total accumulation. Thinking I finish around 4, possibly 5" total which is about 4" more than 90% of this sub-forum saw today so I consider myself rather lucky. Also had some thunder snow before I left work around 1:15. All things considered, including a crappy antecedent air mass, warm ground, less than ideal track and it still being November, not bad at all. PB GFI
When you get 3 after expecting 12 I can safely say 90 percent of the board is happy they aren't you. You will never change the passive aggressive nature of your writing. Cheers

DTWXRISK
it pretty common thing n with weenies/ some hobbyists... .. they get call wrapped up in the echo chamber that they come to believe as long as some area in the CWA is getting 6 or 8 or 10 inches that THEIR area must also be getting 6 or or 8 or 10" Some are not terribly adept an distinguishing the various sections of the OKX CWA...even after their cumulative post count has moved into the five figure range... nzucker
hes close to me and i figured 4-8 for most of us in this area. NWS was a little too aggressive...they had 6-8" in my area. The Weather Channel had many areas getting 8-12" that only saw a couple inches. It was always going to be a gradient, and the gradient was near the Putnam/Westchester line and also near the Rockland/Orange line. Finally, the storm had a lot of dry air with the lack of vertical stacking, and that affected the precipitation rates which reduced the potential for dynamic cooling. Northwest NJ
Still some light rain in Larchmont. Parts of the ground remain white. Two photos from the New York Botanical Garden from earlier today: I worked here from 1987-1989 it brings back some good memories. Unfortunately I have only visited once since I left. interesting to see some snow on the ground there I heard there was nothing in Bayside Queens. Absolute Humidity
Tainty mix here now, seems rate dependent with snow mixing in when rates are 20dbz. Temp dropped from 36 to 34. A coating not out of question I guess.
