IWXwx
Probably should have used Joe's Short Term Discussion thread, since (at least down this way) we'll be short of measurable snow.
michsnowfreak
There's actually possibly two different disturbances to watch out for in the Wednesday thru Friday timeframe.
Gilbertfly
Thread should be fine for the nw flow events/clipper(s?) imo given added holiday traffic in the threads and on the roads...might be a sleeper in the making for some too
Geos
GGEM brings a nice stripe of snow through areas of the lower Lakes during this time frame. GFS/par GFS both show is, but further north and weaker.
Gilbertfly
IZZI via LOT... YET ANOTHER SURGE OF ARCTIC AIR SPILLS INTO THE REGION TUESDAY INTHE WAKE OF THIS SYSTEM. FAST ON ITS HEELS OF THIS SYSTEM LOOKS TOBE A FAIRLY ENERGETIC CLIPPER DIVING INTO THE REGION WEDNESDAY. THE00Z GFS HAS BACKED OFF ON THE INTENSITY OF THIS WAVE...WHILE THEECMWF HAS TRENDED STRONGER AND LOOKS MORE IN LINE WITH THE 84 HOURWRF-NAM. IN ADDITION...THE 13KM PARALLEL GFS IS MORE IN THE STRONGERNAM/ECMWF CAMP SO FELT COMFORTABLE RAISING POPS ABOVE THE SUPERBLENDINITIALIZATION AS POTENTIAL LOOKS TO BE GROWING FOR A HIGHERPROBABILITY/LOWER QPF SNOW EVENT IN THE REGION WEDNESDAY. IT SHOULDCOME AS NO SURPRISE THAT MORE ARCTIC LOOKS TO SPILL INTO THE REGIONBEHIND THIS SYSTEM IN TIME FOR THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY WEEKEND.IZZI I know there is a lot on the plate with today/tomorrow already....but in generalities, I would think this would be a fluffier higher ratio event...details to be ironed out after the sunday/Monday event unfolds...either way, prolly not what the Chicago airports want to see on the docket for the busy travel day

Bet that doesn't happen very often.

The_Global_Warmer
Looking really good for 2-3" of moderate to heavy snow Wednesday here. Pretty amazing start.
Chitown Storm
Decent little clipper coming down tomorrow. GFS and the NAM showing a better hit for MSP than the Euro. Looking like 2-3" a good bet with possible higher totals.
Chitown Storm
Getting a nice thump here this morning. 2-4" in the grids. Nice heavy band moving in from the north. Gonna rip for a bit.

Chitown Storm
Nice. Had all your old snow melted? Most of the old snow melted last weekend, except for the glacierized piles. Lakes stayed frozen however.
Geos
Bump this thread back up for the over running snows and Clipper later in the week. GFS and especially the GGEM dragging the snows into areas where more of us live.
MNstorms
I've never seen a six county area of winter storm warnings. I'm in the center of it. 4-8''+ of snow. I'll take it!
snowlover2
I've never seen a six county area of winter storm warnings. I'm in the center of it. 4-8''+ of snow. I'll take it! I see it all too much since i sit on the dividing line for criteria. Criteria just south of me is a little less than it is for me so its a frequent thing around here. weatherbo
went down to -8 this morning. should see some heavy snow develop late today and into the overnight. if I do get a foot, that would push my snow since Halloween over 70". expect the adv issued yesterday to be upgraded this afternoon, if nothing more than for the blowing snow towards morning. Chitown Storm
Small area of southern MN south of the TC now under a winter storm warning for 7-10". Damn good thump for what was supposed to be an average clipper. Should end up with about 3" here.

Yeah, six counties have this. (see below) It is pretty weird (outside of a lake effect zone) to have a winter storm warning for such a small area. smoof
Anyone have a euro snow map? Friday night is piquing my interest but the NAM keeps staying far north of other guidance. The Euro keeps saying no snow from what I can tell with the only free qpf / snowmap of it I have access to http://www.wunderground.com/wundermap/ uncheck the stuff there, then check model data and ecmwf / snowfall, requires looking at every 3 hr interval and doing some addition (nothing to add up the last few runs) though but free euro data lol.
