November II Discussion

There's crazy compaction. At my in-laws' house in West Seneca, snow is at about the same depth now that it was yesterday afternoon, despite another twelve hours of 3"-5" per hour accumulation.

There's a trained spotter who apparently lives very near them. I'm hoping he or she kept measuring with a snow board after the 60" mark at 8PM last night.

as long as you specify the higher terrain,I'm sure probably only about 35 percent of us stayed in the twenties all day in southern New England.

I did say the hills . He always thinks BOX is always right and takes their forecasts as gospel, and never adjusts them accordingly. only the hills stayed in the 20's today

Euro ensembles still look pretty cold for Thanksgiving and still show a Black Friday cutter...trended colder behind it though. The extended almost looks La Nina-ish.

Looks like the roller coaster continues, but biased on the cold side for departures. No real snow threats to speak of on the enesmebles except maybe on the front end of Black Friday's cutter in NNE...there's still a hint of a wave next Wednesday night southeast of SNE and the mean gives us measurable qpf, but its a tepid signal at best.

We'll see how those trend as we get closer.

Impressive cold shot today.  Looks like 36F will be my high.  See if any light snows pan out overnight.

A lot of dry air to overcome in the column, but there's some lift with the WAA, so what little moisture there is might be enough for a few flakes.

Nice treat today in the mountains up here... I've got only 4" in my front yard, but up high last night picked up 10".  Winter wonderland in the mountains.

Nice.

November is month of the picnic tables. Rest of us rarely get good snows in November, but get some good fresh arctic airmasses and the upslope/rotting LES magic tends to work its wonders there.

i read somewhere that they average 1200-1500" a year. probably the snowiest place on earth

Certainly a contender, along with elevations 5K+ in the AK panhandle, and Baker/Rainier.  On the latter, Longmire at 2,760' averages 150" while Paradise at 5,500' runs about 650.  Keep going up to about 10K and who knows?
