Mid Atlantic Snow totals thread for winter 2014/15

11/26/14. 3 inches of slop

1/6/15. 3 in. Clipper that gave us a little ❤️

1/26/15. 3 inches from a Hail Mary; those bands delivered

I have barely 2.5 inches on the season; 1.2 inches from an earlier clipper; I also received about nine nanometers' worth of dusting from another storm; and 1.3 inches of snow from the Boston BECS of January 2015.

 

This is WORSE than the 4 inches on the season that I managed to eke out in the memorable winter of 2000-2001, the year when we had not just one but TWO monster blizzards that missed us entirely tho we were forecast to receive at least some snow from both.

 

Now we know what happens in winters when we have NO negative NAO and a raging heat ridge and a vanishingly weak El Nino. The Alaskan Ridge has been instrumental in saving us from a raging torch, as in highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s in January/February replete with greening grass and budding trees in mid winter with cherry blossoms on the Tidal Basin in late March and Washingtonians mowing their lawns in early March.

 

We wont get squat, and Boston gets a near record winter. They'll get another KU inside a week and I'll enjoy another 3 inches of RAIN.

I only measured yesterday morning after the entire event was over, so that's what I had. Maybe some the snow from Monday morning melted and/or compacted but I never bothered to measure. Looked like no more than a coating.

RIC only has 0.3" of snow for the season I think... if that's the case were all gonna bust pretty bad in the snowfall contest if something doesn't turn around soon.

How much do you average? 40"?

Pretty much the same as Sparky and PSU Hoffman. PSU and me are both within 5 miles of the Mason-Dixon Line. Almost the same latitude and elevation. We cash in on very marginal events which raise our seasonal average. This season has been the year of nuisance, small, and marginal events.
