RGEM came in pretty decent again. Over 0.20" for most of the area with some areas around 0.40" in SE MA.

Haven't been following this much, but how is the BL when precip arrives tomorrow night. A quick glance at the latest guidance suggests the mid levels are cold enough. Would we need decent rates to get anything more than white rain?

No it should snow...though it may have trouble sticking initially...esp in SE MA and lower elevations. But it will be night which will help some and obviously if it bursts down at a moderate rate or better, then it will stick. It should cool pretty quickly dynamically since 950mb is like -2C once it gets going...won't take long for latent cooling from the melting to bring that down to the surface.

That's a pretty juiced up GFS run.

The GFS soundings actually have a bit of a MAUL that happens to be in the snow growth region just above 600mb. If that actually verified, then it could be a pretty good bust in the positive direction.

The NAM sort of had it too, but the saturation only went to about 500mb and not higher like the GFS.

I wouldn't quite get out the snow blowers and shovels yet, we'll want to see a bit more data...but that's a promising sign. It would also make it easier to overcome the lowest 1500 feet for the lower elevations.

It looked a bit warmer down there, but it looks like it goes to snow at some point. I didn't look closely enough to really see if accumulations occurred. Though they probably would at least in the interior northern NJ hills.
