Stebo
And errors are magnified when a populous metro area is riding the edge. I wouldn't even call this a miss though, they has snow but ended up getting some freezing rain on top which cut back on the snow totals. A miss to me would have been if they got nothing. A miss to me would have been if they got nothing. They got 3" or less from MSP-south (bare ground in extreme southern burbs). They were forecast like 6-10" I think...with up to 10-16" in the northern burbs. It was known that there would be a sharp gradient, but the storm went a bit further north than thought. You know how the public is though...joe blow who lives in a southern burb of Minneapolis heres the phrase "up to 16 inches", now has 1" in his yard and is ready to bash forecasters. wxman1952
For those interested. I have many webcams on my weather site all across Michigan's upper peninsula. It'll be interesting to watch how much and who gets the snow tomorrow. A friend of mine he has received 8" so far up there. Wish he had a web cam at his place though, but he's in a good spot to be seeing some of the most snow. I'll post how much he does get when the storm winds down. weatherbo
nearing a foot here I'd have to estimate. snow depth on the deck is 16" and I already had a few inches down when it started. the widespread snow in the region has ended with round one, but it's never stopped here. It did let up from evening tho.
weatherbo
just an insane rate of snow falling this morning, 3"+ an hour. haven't been out to measure, but I have to estimate 15 to 17" or more so far and another 15-20" to fall.

A-L-E-K
... This area would be the first place in the region to form glaciers, if an ice age were to descend again! Sig worthy weenie-ism

weatherbo
not exactly pic taking weather. measured 4 spots, ranged 15-21" really worried about power right now, it's been flickering. with snow so widespread, idk how soon it would be restored out this far. Chitown Storm
Just about everyone in MSP metro picked up accumulating snow overnight and is still snowing. When a tight gradient occurs across a metro as big as this, people will always bash the forecast as they didn't get what was 'expected'. I'd hardly call this a complete miss. Having to use the snowblower twice since yesterday afternoon for the first snow of the season isn't a miss in my book.

Geos
Great pictures and observations Bo! A cold rain here. Looks like bright banding on the radar to the west. Edit: A few wet flakes making it down to the ground here in Racine now.
Jonger
The cool part about Bo's snow, it will be there until April. For the majority of the subforum, that would be gone by Dec 1st.

Gradient storms are a b*tch to forecast, but when the forecast was at one point the day before the storm 9-15" & u get like 3" its a bust. But your like me if that happened here its a winter wonderland in my yard & im happy. Geos
I think your video captured the scene there pretty good Bo! Like the wind chime noise in the background and the "blue" hue light in the forest. Few wet snowflakes here, but that's probably it until this weekend around here. weatherbo
thx guys! was down digging out my mailbox and a neighbor a few miles down the road came by in his plow and told me he had 21" at his place, glad a few people live in the area because that's the only reason my road is passable. Looks like by tomorrow, 30" is likely.
