Chicago WX
Season totals/departures in the first two posts updated through November 16. KY, OH, and ON sites got kinda porked from the snow on 11/17, due to the cut-off time in the charts. But if we went through the 17th, this is what they'd look like, for the U.S. cities only: Lexington KY: 1.6" +1.5" Louisville KY: 3.3" +3.2" Paducah KY: 2.8" +2.7" Akron/Canton OH: 6.5" +4.9" Cincinnati OH: 5.1" +4.6" Cleveland OH: 9.4" +7.5" Columbus OH: 3.9" +3.4" Dayton OH: 4.1" +3.5" Mansfield OH: 4.4" +3.1" Toledo OH: 2.1" +1.2" Youngstown OH: 6.8" +4.8"

Chicago WX
Thanks all. I went back and looked at the past 30 seasons to see where some cities/locations stood on January 12 with total snowfall, compared to the current edition. In most cases, this season is nothing special with regard to being especially weak in the snowfall department. Indy has gotten the biggest relative shaft, though they just missed out on the better snows with the 1/5-6 clipper. I did tack on the final season totals for each city as well. I tried to use the cities that the bulk of us live close to, but had to omit a few sites because of incomplete or missing data. Also, I would have included some Ontario cities if the data was easily obtained. Not that I can't find it, it's just that a site such as this http://xmacis.rcc-acis.org/# makes things easier when sorting by a specific date (not that it's bullet-proof), and I haven't found a Canadian equivalent. Anyways, the data below. Click charts to enlarge.
Chicago WX
Totaling up all of the amounts through Jan 12 for all of the cities leads to this ranking...from worst to best. Of course, this doesn't mean everyone is doing well relative to their average-to-date...but it's just an overall look for the 15 cities. 1) 152.7" in 1999-00 2) 153.5" in 2006-07 3) 169.4" in 2011-12 4) 172.8" in 1994-95 5) 201.0" in 2001-02 6) 203.6" in 2012-13 7) 211.1" in 1986-87 8) 260.9" in 2003-04 9) 281.4" in 1988-89 10) 285.6" in 2002-03 11) 289.5" in 1992-93 12) 290.5" in 1991-92 13) 290.7" in 1987-88 14) 298.7" in 1990-91 15) 317.7" in 1993-94 16) 319.1" in 2014-15 17) 320.8" in 1997-98 18) 337.1" in 2005-06 19) 342.0" in 2004-05 20) 363.7" in 2007-08 21) 379.3" in 2010-11 22) 392.9" in 1985-86 23) 400.5" in 1989-90 24) 403.0" in 2009-10 25) 407.4" in 1998-99 26) 409.0" in 1996-97 27) 474.3" in 2013-14 28) 481.6" in 1995-96 29) 527.9" in 2008-09 30) 599.4" in 2000-01 30 season mean: 324.6"

I would love to see the dailies...where in the hell would they get 22.2" to date? I will say that the we have made the most of this winters with snowcover, but unless they are accidentially putting snow depth in the snowfall column on a few random days, I dont see how its possible. Between Windsor and Torontos nipher, Canada sure has a weird way of measuring snow

I agree with your analysis for the Jan 8/9th storm. That number does seem a bit too high IMO. However, other days you guys are almost on par in terms of amounts. Some days Windsor did record almost double what DTW recorded though, lol. Its surprising considering the fact that Windsor didn't record any snow in December, yet its above YYZ. Chicago WX
A comparison of the last 5 season snowfall totals through Feb 5 (with normal season snowfall thru 2/5 in the last row). And then the second chart is the final season snowfall totals of the past 4 seasons, with 2014-15 totals thru 2/5 (with 1981-10 normal total season snowfall in the last row). For this season...Moline, IL and Sault Ste Marie, MI have already surpassed their normal total season snowfall...and Chicago is right at normal.
