WxUSAF
Sorry I tried to bring some reality in the November mid/long range op model dry hump disco thread. I'll leave the perpetual 10+ day threat talk to the pros. Tis the season for hurtyhurtz over someone's hilarious post being denied to the world. Disc
Didn't get a chance to post this yesterday, but NWS Blacksburg appeared to cover 'all the bases' with the extended......... .LONG TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/... AS OF 345 AM EST MONDAY... DRY AND COLD WEATHER EXPECTED FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY...AS HIGH CENTER BUILDS EAST ACROSS OUR AREA. LOWS FRIDAY NIGHT WILL BE QUITE COLD FROM THE UPPER TEENS IN THE MOUNTAINS TO THE UPPER 20S IN THE PIEDMONT. PLAYED HIGHS SATURDAY FROM THE MID 30S IN THE NORTHWEST MOUNTAINS TO THE UPPER 490S IN THE PIEDMONT. AS THE HIGH SLIDES OFF INTO THE ATLANTIC OCEAN...MOISTURE SLOWLY RETURNS SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY. LOWS SATURDAY NIGHT WILL MODERATE TO THE MID 20S IN THE MOUNTAINS TO THE LOWER 30S IN THE PIEDMONT. AS THE UPPER FLOW BECOME SOUTHWEST...HIGHS ON SUNDAY WILL BE FROM THE UPPER 30S IN THE WEST TO THE UPPER 40S IN THE EAST. A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE EAST ACROSS THE REGION SUNDAY INTO MONDAY. PRECIPITATION CHANCES INCREASE TO LIKELY BY SUNDAY NIGHT IN THE WEST...WITH BOTH GFS AND ECMWF SUPPORTING IT. WE WILL HAVE TO SEE HOW THIS SYSTEM EVOLVES WITH TIME WITH DETAILS BECOMING MORE CLEARLY AS WE APPROACH THE DATE. I was hoping for the 500s, but I guess I'll have to wait 'til next summer. nj2va
By the way, it is officially "winter" for me, as my first move this morning was to look at the forum and feel disappointment that there was not a volume of posts overnight - meaning that the Euro had offered no love. This. Hopefully we're in for a fun winter of model watching and storm threads.
ThePhotoGuy
I kind of wish it would be a warm winter instead of cold even though i like the cold. I just get sick of the hype on social media and on TV about it getting cold.

usedtobe
I can't wait till we have a warm winter. We are due. I'd like a snowless March and a white Christmas with the storm actually occurring on Christmas eve or day. PLus I'd like to catch a 9lb bass but that's another story. mitchnick
I'm down there through Thanksgiving, wonk hope the pattern relaxes a little so it warms up a bit while I'm there. I missed the 6" cold event last year (late January?) when I was down there, so I wouldn't be surprised if I missed one again this year. sounds like you're there for work? I don't think I could handle it for more than 3 nights, though it is the go-to location for my wife and I in fact, we don't really "go-to" anywhere else except the beach as I am a complete travel dud.....among other "dudly" matters
