Nice looking band off of Lake Erie right now. Looks like some slightly enhanced KDP near echo top over the lake. Collocated with ZDR around 0 dB indicating a significant presence of aggregates, possibly from the collection of dendrites. This coincides with the higher reflectivity between 30-35 dBz in the center of the band. Also a hint of some pristine ice crystals (dendrites or plates) on the edge of the band with the highest ZDR values. You can definitely see some convergence in the radial velocity in the center of the band with perhaps a few weak small-scale circulations.

Awesome! Just light snow here as band has went south of here, but looking at last few radar images it looks to make a return trip rather soon.

I am listening to the online scanner and the state police on the Thruway from Exit 46 on west. I am not sure exactly of the location for any of the units, but neither are they. They are estimating what mile markers they are at when asked by dispatch. One trooper just said he can't see anything. And cars are stopping, regardless of where they are.

Must be something!

If that band stalls over my house until tomorrow morning. We will be talking 2-3 feet easily. Have to be close to a foot already.

Sounds like you are in a great spot. I just heard authorities say that the Thruway between Lackawanna + Hamburg is a white out and cars have just stopped in the lanes. Tow trucks and emergency vehicles have to try to get past them on the shoulders. Now a patrol just said they really need to strongly consider closing the Thruway from Exit 54 and points west.
