phoenixny
Unbelievable amounts of snow. Scary actually. Buffalo seems to think Northern Onondaga may see 8 to 14 by Friday PM. Their snowfall map kind of shows the two shades of magenta entering the county. From what I can see band looks to swing through pretty quick but maybe we can get a stall. Would like to get at least 6 out of this before it melts. Be safe out in western NY. 18Z GFS was a pretty cold run. Canada looks to stay cold. Buffalo Bumble
I'm in between those stations and have 6-8" on the ground lol, I'll be happy if I can get a foot of snow with this next one Looks like a pretty solid wall of snow over southern Ontario about to push into Niagara Frontier. I think it will be a race against the clock for us though in northern Erie County to pile up the snow before the shift south. The cyclonic flow over Lake Superior evident on radar is interesting - maybe we can wring a few extra inches of synoptic/lake effect enhancement tonight. Not enough, and thank you! After the thaw we get right back to it... lol LOOKING INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK FOR THE IMPORTANT THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY TRAVEL TIME PERIOD...COLDER AIR WILL FILTER BACK INTO THE GREAT LAKES. BOTH THE GFS AND ECWMF DROP 850MB TEMPS TO -8C TO -10C BY WEDNESDAY WITH CYCLONIC SOUTHWESTERLY FLOW...SUGGESTING THE POTENTIAL FOR ANOTHER LAKE EFFECT EVENT. STAY TUNED. weathafella
This is obviously a special event but perhaps the gateway into 60s/70s style Buffalo area winters. In the past 2 decades, we've had less LES in the Buffalo area. Nice to see it perhaps reverting back.
