FYI folks...

I'm going to be performing a little thread housecleaning to separate this LES event out of the general discussion thread. I think this event is worthy enough to have its own thread and be pinned. I may close the general discussion thread briefly just to get everyone posting in the newly created one.

Thanks!

Death toll is up to 7: http://www.wkbw.com/news/fifth-person-killed-by-lake-effect-snowstorm

For those of you living in the area, I know that, at least in South Buffalo/Lackawanna, they have barriers on the Thruway entrance ramps, were they used at all before the road was officially closed?

They were much better with this event in warning people beforehand that previous events. It really helped out that this storm started at 9 PM on Monday evening instead of during rush hour. I could not even imagine what would of happened if this hit at 7-9 am or 4-6 pm.....

Hey everyone!  Supposedly the stadium is paying people and giving away game tickets if you help shovel out...

County Executive is not happy from what I am reading. Still a driving ban in place in Orchard Park and many surrounding towns.

Poloncarz: I'm sorry #BuffaloBills - we have major emergency - that matters more than a football game http://bit.ly/WNYSnowLive  #TWCNewsSnow
