Amped
Is it me or does the band look like the northern most convergence is finally starting to weaken and re-focus more towards Hamburg ? Yeah it has been for quite a while, rates have died down a lot on the northern side.
BuffaloWeather
How concerned are folks in WNY snow belt areas about forecasts for temps in the 50's this weekend with rain? As bad as the snow is, a rapid melt could be awful? Not really worried. We had 7 days straight of 50s and sun after receiving 83 inches of snow in 5 days back in 2001. Flooding after thaws is nearly always overstated. Well that is unless you have a leaky basement, but whose fault is that?

BuffaloWeather
plus the fact snow ratios are incredibly high the moisture content is not as high of synoptic snow Actually I just went to shovel this snow. It has weight to it. The bottom foot of it is slop. This has more weight than most snyoptic snows I've shoveled last year. Early season LES unusually have much more QPF/Snow ratio than true arctic air events in Late DEC/JAN

Buffalo Bumble
Band seems to be re-intensifying, getting destroyed again. The persistence of this band is really just crazy. I keep looking at downstream radars and thinking you'll catch a break and this will push down into ski country, but it seems to have a vice grip on the same area. josh_4184
I just wanted to say that all the pictures are amazing, never seen anything like it. At first I was a little or alot jealous, but I think now its at the point where the weather curiosity is being replaced with concern for travesty for human life. I hope everyone takes care and stays safe.
Ginx snewx
SNOW LOADS by Darren Deberry Nations Roof of Connecticut How much weight can most roofs take? Snow loads for buildings in the eastern regions are generally around 20 lbs. per square foot. This does not include the weight of the roof membrane, trusses and any HVAC equip- ment on the roof areas. How Much Does Snow Weigh? A one-inch layer of water or ice weighs approximately five lbs. per square foot. A roof designed for a 20 lb. per square foot snow load could theoretically hold up to four inches of ice. How much snow is that? Meteorologists estimate that about 12 inches of snow is equivalent to one inch of water, which means a roof can hold up to four feet of snow. Wet and packed snow weighs more, so a roof with a load of wet snow or packed snow might only to be able to handle up to three feet of snow.
