got some flakes in the 23rd hour last night...and with flakes flying all day today, that makes it 4 straight days imby....some snow showers possible here tomorrow would make 5 straight days and bring the monthly tally of "flakes flying" to 14.

With the exception of the snow on 24NOV which brought roughly an inch...none of the other snows produced more than a dusting....and truthfully only 3 or 4 of the other 13 snows actually produced enough to make a dusting at that.

Truly the month of mood flakes....this would have been a perfect December temps wise and with the mood flake quantity leading into the holidays....the only thing it lacked was a decent snowpack...but even then the greatest snowfall of an inch came on the 24th, which would have worked out somewhat perfect if it were indeed December.

^^^^not complaining....just reminiscing....it's the turkey talking :)

Statement as of 8:00 am EST on November 28, 2014

... Record November snowfall set at Gaylord...

A record snowfall of 64.8 inches was set at Gaylord. This breaks the
old record of 63.0 set back in 1995. With two days left in November
we can expect the monthly total to be slightly higher by the end of
the month.

Yesterdays 0.3" will put the final November snowfall at Detroit at 4.0", which is "only" the 35th snowiest November in 135 years of record, but this certainly broke the trend of crappy Novembers and was the 5th snowiest Nov since 1979. The dusting is already almost all melted, so the final tally for November:

Days with snow falling - 11

Days with measurable snowfall - 5

Days with some snow on the ground - 8

Days with 1"+ snow on the ground - 6

Based on today and tomorrows forecast, I project this to be the 8th coldest November on record since 1874.

I finished Nov with 4.1" imby.

74F right now in Omaha, high in the 20s tomorrow lol, worst climo, hard to adjust to temps that jump around like that.

That's what makes the weather so interesting in those parts.  You will ALWAYS need to know the weather if you are doing any outdoor activities for a few hours.  Places in Montana had 50s for highs yesterday, only to wake up to sub-zero temps this morning.  That would make for some extreme camping.

I see you've made a move to a better winter climate. Should be a little easier now. :D

This has to be the most insane and impressive inversion I've ever seen. 0z raob from OAX. Looks like a roughly 18 deg C increase in about a 25mb layer. Places west of Omaha hit 80 degrees today. The diurnal range had to be close to 50 degrees.

If Omaha had supertall skyscrapers like in Chicago, it would be in the 70s at the observation deck, but near freezing at ground level.  Amazing.
