Stebo
Down to 16 here already, dewpoint is only 5 though, if the winds can relax some we might have a shot at the record low of 11.

Unfortunately, it looks like that's going to pretty much kill the LES potential.
Stebo
Unfortunately, it looks like that's going to pretty much kill the LES potential. Wind direction is killing the LES, its 220 right now. No lakes SW of here . If the wind does change to more 260-280 then we would be cooking.
Thundersnow12
Cool Cincinnati stats, no pun intended. Just had a burst of snow here that quickly dusted everything up. Combined with a temp of 15˚ and gusty winds, makes for a hell of a January evening. No kidding. Had a few bursts around here this evening and blowing across the roads with temps in the low teens. Felt like the heart of winter.

If the wind does change to more 260-280 then we would be cooking. The wind direction isn't perfect, but the dearth of moisture really adds insult to injury, given the so far pitiful returns we've seen (in the convergence zone along M-59/I-96) since the dewpoints dropped from late this afternoon. stormtrackertf
It is fridgid out there tonight with the wind. Kind of makes me wonder how truly arctic the airmass in 1880 had to be to have a high of 12 with a low of 0 this week.
Chicago WX
Super duper cold that airmass was back then. Indianapolis reeled off this stretch of max/min temps in the last half of November 1880. If I saw this in January, I'd be like...right on, pretty good cold. 11/15: 31˚/22˚ 11/16: 32˚/22˚ 11/17: 22˚/13˚ 11/18: 20˚/5˚ 11/19: 24˚/-3˚ 11/20: 26˚/18˚ 11/21: 19˚/2˚ 11/22: 17˚/-5˚ 11/23: 27˚/1˚ 11/24: 30˚/16˚ 11/25: 27˚/19˚ 11/26: 29˚/12˚ 11/27: 33˚/10˚ 11/28: 36˚/26˚ 11/29: 33˚/16˚ 11/30: 33˚/11˚ Resulted in a pretty much unbreakable November mean average temperature of 31.1˚. The second coldest Nov on record for Indy is 34.6˚ in 1976.

Chicago WX
LAF fail on hitting single digits so far, which is hilarious considering my thermometer has 9.1˚ right now. EVV, FWA, and IND all with min temps of 9˚ this morning, as of 7:00am. Record setter for EVV (previous was 12˚ in 1959), no dice for IND (5˚ in 1880)...and as IWXwx posted, it's a record for FWA. Chicago WX
Still dropping here, 8.4˚ on my thermometer. I guess these maps run a little behind, but here's the 11z temps in the Midwest this morning.
Chicago WX
LAF finally catches up, down to 8˚ at 8:00am. 12z temps for the CONUS. South Florida the lone refuge for warmwantistas.

michsnowfreak
I was wondering how this dry ai rmass would be good for LES. we had 0.1" yesterday afternoon and not a flake since. Meanwhile put snowcover is closer to a half inch now from the wind. However tomorrow is looking good for 2, maybe 3" as we have synoptic and lake support. Bring it on! DTW tied and thus superseded the record low this morning of 11F set in 1880. First we break 1880-81s snow record now we dent into their record November cold snap after these records sat untouched for 134 years.
Chicago WX
Staying under 20˚ today at IND and LAF going to be tough I think. At noon, LAF is 16˚ and IND 17˚. Spitting some flurries here right now. Up to 6 days with snow for the month and 7 on the season.
Geos
Very slow to warm up this morning. Climbed to 14° so far. 16° at MKE so far. Let it bust the 1872 record!

Chicago WX
Still 16 at LAF but 19 at IND. Yeah, that's a shame for IND. But at least they got the single digit min temp this morning. BTW, LAF ended up hitting 7˚ this morning.

bowtie`
The one o'clock reporting at IND ruined it. Since midnight the windchill was zero or below zero. At one it rose to two above. At two it was back below zero again.
hawkeye_wx
Last night we would have gone below zero easily with clear and calm conditions. The wind and occasional clouds kept us in the single digits above zero.

cyclone77
2nd day in a row we failed to make it out of the teens. Just incredible. Got down to 7 this morning. There's a lot of ice already on the Rock River outside of town. Never seen this much ice on that relatively wide river this early.
