Florida Dry Season 2014/2015

Well the dry season is here.  Hopefully some of these fronts spin up some action in the Gulf cause this Chamber of Commerce weather is boring. NWS Winter outlook has the Sunshine state with 40% chance of being wetter then normal so we'll see how that turns out.
After tonight the lows are supposed to be in the 50's all week. Man, I am going to freeze this Winter.
Okay,  just over  7  months till the rainy season begins. Bring it on baby!

When one talks about the Sunshine State they are NOT referring to spring and summer. Summers are endless late grey days thanks to T-Storm debris cloudiness and the storms themselves. When one talks about the Sunshine State they are referring to the glorious days of cloudless and deep blue skies. I have witnessed multiple days like these for the first time in an eternity this past week.

Dry Season is here. No matter how much it ends up raining ;)

Dry Season is here and kicked off within a day of when I thought it did IMBY! I am at the most northern possible areas for true South Florida forecasting and the southern most area for Central Florida. So, I am looking mostly at the Melbourne product given MBY gets much more attention from Melbourne than it does from Miami.

That link above is interesting. The only way I see us being wetter than normal is if the STJ starts kicking in that may be another good 2 months from now.

Ugh we need some rain bad and none insight anytime soon.  :maprain:

Its amazing how once the rain stops falling these oaks start shedding like a dogs' winter time coat in the spring.

Cocorahs is mostly goose eggs this month. just .88 so far with nothing really on the horizon through the end of the month.

Yep, the dry season is firmly entrenched. :(

Nice link smog. Some good info in there.

I remember those F3 tornando events. I believe the one in Orlando was in 98 and killed 42 people.  You can read about it here. http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2014-02-23/weather/os-1998-florida-tornadoes_1_morningside-acres-bodies-counties

The other one was just south of me in 07. I remember going to work that morning thinking I have never seen so many fire trucks and ambulances at one time. That one killed 21. I remember that cell specifically because I got up early for work  (2:30 AM). It was a solid line that came through but this one cell just blew up big time. One girl I knew slept through the whole thing. She woke up to come into work and half the houses on her street were leveled and her's wasn't even touched. Read about it here.

48 this morning in Apopka..  first time this fall.

46 is dream like bro. That aint cold ;) Its GORGEOUS!!!

lol. Right 46 is a heatwave really.

In fact the Euro has been changing alot but the theme is still the same. But if that huge trough develops like it has been showing. Then next weekend will offer first frost and freeze potential down to atleast Disney.

Almost 88 today. Felt goood.

Major cool down for the weekend though. Saturday only in the mid 60's but upper 30's for Sunday morning.

Looks like a slim chance for rain tomorrow. Man it's dry up here.

Yeah the last couple of days have been nice and def could use some rain. Only a 30% chance today. A rather nice cluster of storms west of Tampa but those will probably dry up before they make it here later this evening. Sat and Sun will be good days to have the windows open.

Nice line of storms north of me but looks like they are going to stay up there.

Now they are talking mid 30's for sunday morning. Only supposed to be in the upper 50's and low 60's on Saturday so it looks like my furnace might kick on. :yikes:

I totally didn't even know central Florida had a dry season at all.  We were down there for a week last New Year and it rained every damn day.  :)

October through most of November is pretty dry. The fronts that do make it through are usually dry or just reinforcing the cold weather. December can be wet but usually only when el nino is kicking in.

Didn't take long for the heater to kick on. Thermostat set at 66 and it's running.

Man that wind has a bite to it today. Currently 49 with a 15-20 mph wind. DP's crashed too. it was 49 at 4 AM. Now it's 28!!

It's heading your way smog.

Alot of twenties showing up elsewhere too. NWS going 43 for this area tonight. I'd say shave atleast 5 degrees off around here depending on how strong the wind blows tonight.

Looks like they were pretty close at 43.

Bottomed out at 35.9 here so the 37 was accurate. A couple places about 20 miles to my west that are in some kind of "cold air drainage" according the NWS were at 32 and 33. Definitely a strong cold front  for the beginning of November.

Yeah they were. Channel 9 had this area 39 but was actually 43 here at the house. That wind really started to fall off between 5-7 last night.

Not sure how much yall other florida residents pay attention to the chatter on this forum. Robert a good met from NC which I agree with what he says a split flow with an active STJ should start developing by mid month. If it holds true could see better rain chances with a GOM low take shape around the 14-15th. Then possibly one on the heals of that.

First real organized shot at rain this weekend and if I did not have a camping trip planned Saturday through Tuesday I would be pumping it hard.

****!

Figures. plan something outside and the rain comes.

Hey, go camping more often. I need the rain up here.

I'm fine with that. :)

In a manner of speaking ...

Are you getting those invasive Cuban tree frogs? The ones that spit and jump 10 feet and leave poop like a rat on windowsills and outside furniture?

Well - they are all over west Gainesville. BUT -- 3 nights near 35 and suddenly I'm finding frog carcass everywhere (including on top of my security lights). Cold kills them on the spot apparently. So - Bring on 1963, 1976, 1983, 1985, 2011 ....  FREEZE forever!!!!!
