Drove from Oceanside down to Ocean Parkway, heading east towards Riverhead. Heck of a light show and eerie yet awesome. One of the really cool things was to drive North on the Robert Moses (over the bridge from the barrier island to mainland) and to see how the physics of the storm was playing out. You could see the back building to the west of the storm cluster, yet to the north and east you could see the subsidence. What was really cool was to see the stability of that subsidence literally cutting the lightning off as it spread through the sky. Interesting to say the least.

" TSTMS ACROSS WESTERN AREAS EARLY THIS MORNING SHOULD DIMINISH AS

THE UPPER LOW MOVES TOWARDS THE MID ATLANTIC COAST AND THE MID

LEVEL SHORTWAVE PUSHES INLAND.

STORM JUST S OF NASSAU/QUEENS HAS BEEN BACKBUILDING OVER THE SAME

AREA FOR SEVERAL HOURS WITH LITTLE FORWARD MOVEMENT. DUAL POL

ESTIMATES STORM TOTAL AMOUNTS BETWEEN 6 AND 9 INCHES OF RAINFALL WITH

HOURLY RATES BETWEEN 2-4 INCHES. THANK GOODNESS THIS IS OVER THE

WATER!! HOWEVER...RAINFALL RATES OF 1-2 INCHES PER HOUR

IN THE VICINITY OF LONG BEACH HAS PROMPTED A FLASH FLOOD WARNING

FOR SOUTHERN QUEENS/NASSAU." - OKX

Pouring here ...could be some major issues for rush hour

Nice bands rotating in from the ocean, looks like Monmouth county is getting pummeled with torrential downpours. Even though the intensity of the storms have weakened, it looks to pour for several hours at least.

Currently in the center of that band, heard plenty of rumbles and rain is mostly moderate at the moment. Doesn't look like this is going anywhere anytime soon and it actually looks like it's expanding.

Imagine if those offshore heavy storms came inland and there would be major flooding.

they're absolutely will be. only time will tell if NJ can get in those prolific rainfall rates
