Thunder Road
Kindley Weatherbug site is reporting gusts to 67 mph now, which matches the last ob from the airport. Still doubt the 106 mph, unless it's elevated significantly.

wxmeddler
The site with the 106 mph gust is 150 to 200 feet Above sea level. And is on the eastern ridge, so no wind blocking; straight off the ocean.

jm1220
80-85 mph gusts are nothing to sneeze at. During Sandy those kinds of gusts made the entire house I was in shake and tore up lots of infrastructure.
dan11295
Talk about ridiculous, was not a single story on the hurricane on the front page of CNN. Getting dark there now. so hard to see much on the cam. wind is still picking up based on the sound.
OSUmetstud
TXKF up to 51 kt gusting to 69 kt. Keep in mind the wind is a 10-minute mean.
OSUmetstud
MAX SUSTAINED WINDS 100 KT WITH GUSTS TO 130 KT. Due to the large observeddifferential between the winds at the surface and aloft, a higherthan normal gust factor has been used in this advisory. cool. dan11295
Remember the point is the highest point on the island. that said at the NHC said they are getting into the northern eyewall now/shortly. which will be the worst of the storm. OSUmetstud
Gusts to 109 knots at st david. (125mph) There's some artificial acceleration up the hill from an east direction, but still pretty wicked. We should see gusts to 140 or 150 kt in the higher elevations. Bermuda Harbour Radio is a good spot with solid equipment.

OSUmetstud
I talked to a few co-workers while at BWS, and they mentioned that if they were to get a Fabian again, they would at least like to have the "coolness" factor of getting in the eye. The eastern part of the island got no break in Fabian.
OSUmetstud
150kt? yeah at 200 or 250 ft? There was similar in Fabian.

NorthNJwx
AWOS stations up and reporting right now. At 22:50 UTC, ESE 85 G 110 (kt) at Commissioner's Point, and St. David's is 77 G 103. I know it was mentioned earlier that the Commissioner's Point AWOS is at 150' ASL, but those are still extremely impressive numbers. Wow. I have the live feed up, and what appears to be a flagpole in the immediate foreground is shaking around at high frequency. I've only been to that beautiful island once, but from what I remember, it's about as well-equipped as any place to handle a serious hit like this. Hoping for the best there.
