jbcmh81
Any information on this event? I found an article from July 1877 that stated it started in the Plains and affected parts of Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri, as well as the entirety of Iowa, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio. It was described as short-lived, but severe with major crop damage, downed trees and power lines, roofs blown off houses and even a train derailed. There was reported loss of life as well. Hoosier
Haven't found any more info than what you found. Looking at old maps from that day, the synoptic setup looks like would have been favorable for severe weather.
