It feels amazing out.

Yeah, MVL just came in with 78/56.  Steady 20mph+ gusts out of the south keep the air moving.  BTV's been gusting over 30mph in the afternoon obs...hair dryer flow.

MPV at 75F is only 1 degree away from matching the record high for the day, 2 degrees from setting it.

BML up to 77F...52 degrees warmer than yesterday morning's 25F low, haha.  Even Pittsburg, NH up to 74F.

By far the bigger anomalies in this pattern will be in NNE with these highs and the warm mins coming the next couple days, especially the NW periphery where climo mixes in the NW flow mank days this time of year where it could just as easily be 42F with upslope drizzle and showers.

What do you like about them? What gets you off?

Its beautiful out.  Relax and enjoy it.  You're not like trading a snowy day for this.  Open the windows, play a last round of golf, do some yardwork, hike or bike.  Pretty soon everyone will be indoors for like 4 straight months.

Indoors....lol

I think it's called Indian Summer and I think it happens every year.  No big deal.  Back in 1995 we had 70's and 80s in October and I don't think that winter turned out too bad.

indoors? Huh, not. I love the fact the sun is so low we don't feel abused by the rays, perfect weather to fish, hike, bike in shorts. Raked in shorts and flip flops today. On the roof in shorts and sneakers making winter preps on the gutters. Felt great, if it's going to torch let it be in October.

Whether we like it or not, we do spend more time indoors in the winter...even folks that ski or snowshoe or what not. I ski 7 days a week but still know I spend more time indoors in the winter...no more sitting outside on the deck after work, no more swimming, BBQs, just general hanging around outside.

It's not a bad thing because we love winter, but it is a fact you will spend more time indoors in the winter. All I was saying was the perks of warm October days is just more time to hang out comfortably outdoors.

It's a cold look for elevations in SNe near or over 2k

That's not a lot of places.  Probably 10 towns in western Mass

My prediction is lots of impatience and knee-jerk cancelling of winter if the warmer start to November idea verifies. Usually it starts as that...then it moves onto severe impatience if we haven't had a moderate snowstorm by Dec 1st even though the odds of that are very low to begin with.

But we'll see, the end of October might be cooler where we are even if the plains are torching.

If a warm October means I can save wood and not need the heat in April, I'll be a happy camper.

Open windows - check

Play golf - check

Yard work - check

Looks like I have finessed my to do list!

In all seriousness though, even though I enjoy a nice bit of Indian Summer, I also like the step down aspect of October as well. If there are no cool temps then there is no Indian Summer.

Successful spinal fusion!

Man that sux. Been there a year ago almost to the date I had my surgery. I wish you a speedy successful pain-free recovery Jay.

Dealing with discs, nerve roots, facet joints, compression is debilitating and the pain that goes along with it is woefully misunderstood.

I've been dealing with chronic pain for years, resigned to the fact I'll never be pain-free.

Thanks Don. The soreness and pain was a lot more bearable yesterday evening. Now it's definitely getting worse as the plethora of medicine they gave me wears off. They are giving me shots every three hours which helps GREATLY. However, I can't event come close to sleep. They are putting me on Valium next time the nurse comes in which will hopefully help.
