It's getting closer....

"Near term /until 7 PM this evening/... as of 708 am EDT Thursday...breezy and cooler conditions are expected today as middle-tropospheric thermal trough translates east-southeastward from southeastern Ontario within broadly cyclonic flow across southeastern Canada. The early morning infrared satellite imagery also shows a compact shortwave trough/mid- level vorticity just northeast of Lake Superior. As this vorticity translates across our northern sections this afternoon...anticipate skies becoming mostly cloudy once again across the northern portions of our forecast area. Also...scattered shower activity consistent with simulated reflectivity depiction shown by btv-4 and btv-12km WRF runs and 00z NAM is expected. Most of this activity will occur between 18-00z...when probability of precipitation peak around 50 percent. Per NAM model soundings...the freezing level at 18z today is expected near 4 kft...so will probably see a few snow showers at the higher Summit locations above 3000-3500 feet across the northern Adirondacks into the northern Green Mountains...
