It's a waste IMO. My setup is over $1k, but a basic Davis can be had for a few hundred. I would get a standalone rain gauge or go the 1-wire route with that budget. If you're good with electronics you could make your own temp sensor and radiation shield.

Yeah I think you are right. I think I will just wait until I can afford to get a good quality product. Don't want to get a piece or junk.
