Well that will be interesting to see how far south the snow makes it this weekend! Skilling dropped his high down to 46° for Saturday. Thinking frost is a good bet now.

Just so long as the weather puts an end to the hyper-aggressive Yellow Jackets that seem to be all over the place behind my house.

They have been awful this fall.

Yeah no kidding they've been bad! At work it's almost impossible to eat outside on the nice days because they pester you so much!

NAM has a nice squall line developing east of the Mississippi River late today.

Who is going to see flakes Saturday? Bo is nearly a lock, Gaylord has snow in the forecast. Will anyone else get in on it. Se Michigan record was set Oct 12th 2006 as the earliest snow. That winter sucked too..... I think it's completely random though.

I think DLL has a chance at it, it precipitation can make it in early enough in the day.

Rain has now moved into the area. Made it to about 72°.

Point has 37 with scattered showers tomorrow night.  Can't rule out a rogue flake or pellet if a heavier shower passes through given the profiles forecast for the area.  Looks like it would be predawn though, so won't be seeing that if it happens.

Pretty cool to be seeing the first flake ops already around the MW.

Michael Skipper has no qualms with using the s word:

.LONG TERM...(FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY)
ISSUED AT 355 PM EDT THU OCT 2 2014

A SECONDARY COLD FRONT WILL BE RACING EAST ACROSS THE AREA AT THE
START OF THE PERIOD FRIDAY NIGHT AS AN UPPER LEVEL TROF LIFTS
NORTHEAST. HAVE ADJUSTED THE TIMING OF SHOWERS BASED ON THE LATEST
GFS AND NAM TO COINCIDE WITH THE PASSAGE OF THESE SYSTEMS...WITH THE
BEST CHANCE FOR RAIN EARLY FRIDAY NIGHT OVER NORTHERN AREAS. VERY
COLD AIR WILL BE SPREADING OVER THE AREA EARLY SATURDAY. GIVEN 850
MB TEMPS AS COLD AS -5C AND 925 MB TEMPS BELOW 0C...CONCERN FOR A
POSSIBLE RAIN/SNOW MIX EARLY IN THE DAY. FOR NOW...KEPT THE MENTION
OF SNOW OUT GIVEN UNCERTAINTY...AND GIVEN THE FIRST MENTION THIS
SEASON.
ADDED SOME PATCHY FROST SATURDAY NIGHT OVER MAINLY SOUTHWEST
AREAS WHERE THERE MAY BE SOME CLEARING WITH LOWS DIPPING WITHIN A
FEW DEGREES OF FREEZING. LINGERING SHOWERS ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH
TUESDAY NIGHT AS THE UPPER LOW/UPPER TROF REMAINS OVER THE REGION.
TEMPERATURES SHOULD MODERATE TO NEAR NORMAL BY NEXT THURSDAY AS THE
UPPER LEVEL FLOW BECOMES MORE ZONAL.

You know it's interesting, in recent years we have seen first snowfall opportunities in the Midwest in September, but it's pretty early for the likes of MSP to be talking possible accumulating snow.  The end of September was too benign to yield any snow in the region, but I know the Dakotas have had September snows in recent years.

I think I have a decent chance with at least seeing some mixing.
