Yesterday (10/13) was the 30-year average date for FWA to hit 32°.  I noticed that the seven day point doesn't have us getting below 37°, so I had to check out the latest freeze date and found out that it was 11/24/1931! (The latest 28° date is 11/25/1931)

Guess I don't have to worry about breaking that one for awhile.

Indeed.

FORT WAYNE MOCLDY 32 31 96 CALM 30.20S

6HR MIN TEMP: 32; 6HR MAX TEMP: 43

LAF cleared out late, and then quickly dropped...but only hit 33˚ this morning.

That's right, it is the 25th anniversary...I had totally forgot. Amazing event really. And it was book-ended by complete torches.

Super torches. I lived Marion, IN at the time and measured 8.5". A few days later it was in the 70's. When it melted, it was quite the quagmire.

84˚ at the WL COOP on 10/15. You take out the events of Oct 18-20, 1989...and it was like summer in that part of the month.

Afterwards...November was cool, December was frigid...and then winter 1989-90 was over. Jan, Feb, and Mar 1990 were complete infernos.

OT but...emBEARrassing performance by the beloved today, so far.

Highs and lows at the airport in the days surrounding that snowstorm:

IIRC, the 850 mb 0C line made it to the GOM...pretty impressive.

Baroclinicity posted this snowfall map in the thread at EUSWX.

I was looking for a good map earlier, but couldn't come up with one. Saved for posterity. I should have known to look here (or Eastern). The posters here have it going on.

Colours are peeking in the region. Travelled to the Pontiac region today for a soccer match with my daughter, the weather was perfect. Kids playing in the leaves, making piles and jumping in them. Parents huddled together, Tim's in hand. Watching the morning game unfold on a frosty pitch. Man I'm pissed with myself for not taking some pics.

I remember that storm! Was in 2nd grade at the time. Remember the leaves mixed in with the snow.

Today was by far the best day of the weekend. Felt warm with the sun out.

Spent a majority of the day in the Baraboo - Devil's Lake area hiking. Pics coming later. 53° for the high today. Slightly warmer to the west.
