Fall thread for the mountains

Wow. Some crazy temp differences tonight. I'm at 47.4 with a high today of 48.6 just set a couple of hours ago. I noticed the top of Sugar and Beech Mtn. are in the upper 40's while Banner Elk and Weaverville are in the upper 20's. Even AVL is below freezing at 31.2.

Wow some impressive inversions on the temps this evening. We had some gusty wins this evening but it did not affect the temps at all. We are actually already down to 22 degrees tonight. The point and click forecast has us for a low of 21 degrees.

I'm keeping a close eye on the high country weather for the weekend. Thinking about coming up Friday if it looks like snow on Saturday!

Yeah we have been commenting on this upcoming system in the snow thread but we know there are going to be changes from run to run. I have only been watching the Euro with this system. The GFS has been bi-polar recently. Check back in Wed and the models should have a better handle on things.

A nice cold morning this morning with a low of 16 degrees. Still watching to see how the details about next weekend iron out. The Euro is tough to beat. The GFS is a mess.

Not sure what to think this morning about anything. The telleconnections this morning look about as bad as you can get. The big pattern change seems like will not happen. Will be in a wait and see game rally. Still very early in the game but not good signs going into January.
