LongBeachSurfFreak
I hope Josh has a good chase. I can just imagine how awesome the waves crashing on the rock formations at the tip of Cabo must look Lovers cove had insane waves even under normal circumstances! And the wind is offshore there currently meaning you could hypothetically sit there and watch! To bad josh isn't on here anymore I miss his play by plays
icebreaker5221
I understand that their building code in Cabo isn't too bad, with mostly concrete. If everyone heeds the warnings and takes proper cover, the loss of life should be low. The tikis are toast tho.

Stebo
It is really starting to look like this might make landfall into the Baja vs missing it just to the left. It is going to be very close either way.
Wannabehippie
You can really pick up the double eyewall on a few of those shots. Thanks for posting it.

1234snow
I think it will be really hard for it to miss Cabo now to the west as time is running out. Josh should be in for a fun ride.

DopplerWx
i know it is beating a dead horse, but i hate that TWC is showing episodes of "how would you survive" and "fat guys in the woods" while a cat 3 is about to make landfall in cabo. frustrating. Hvward
Even in this day and era, they probably still do not have the budget for trips outside the U.S. Mike Sidel posted that he was in Mexico City on his way to Cabo around 4hrs ago. This kind of snuck up on some in the weather community.

Windspeed
I'm not so sure there won't be a damaging surge due to Odile's path. Granted, inclination is higher south of the Baja Penninsula; however, a shallow (7 meter) reef area makes up the Bahia and immediate coastline towards the eastern tip. The wind direction will be pushing water against the southern penninsula and the current should be blocked somewhat by the shape of Bahia San Lucas. Unfortunately, even a small surge may be quite damaging due to significant wave action on top. A 3 meter surge into the Cabo Marina and lower night district would be quite devestating. Jackstraw
That's a huge shift east on the 72hr track from the 5 PDT to the 8 PDT. Per the NHC the ERC is complete but there may not be enough time for the new eyewall to contract and the storm strengthen before landfall. Will be interesting to watch over the next 6 hours. Hvward
From Josh on FB: 9:20 pm. Front doors of hotel below out of their frames while I was on with The Weather Channel. We've now piled a mountain of furniture against the broken frames. Wind blowing into lobby. Building getting hammered. Screaming, roaring sounds. Whoa. Building just enveloped in raw power.
