uncle W
Alan was the only one who had a clue to what was going on the night of January 19th, 1978...He was worried the forecast for the snow to change to rain wouldn't happen...Alan was my favorite back then... rclab
Alan was the only one who had a clue to what was going on the night of January 19th, 1978...He was worried the forecast for the snow to change to rain wouldn't happen...Alan was my favorite back then... He was my TV favorite and he pulled no punches. I remember (cannot pin down the year or month) we were expecting a big winter storm. Alan came on, discussed the movement of the low and said (in reference to the snow potential) that it's game over. No hype, no if, no maybe. I liked that. IsentropicLift
Plenty of Summer memories listening to Alan's forecasts on 101.5 driving down to the Jersey shore. Hope he enjoys his retirement, well deserved.
HSNN4
Very very sad day indeed, Alan Kasper hands down was the best there was in this state, NO ONE even comes close in present day NO ONE !! ~ We have now lost our voice of reason, Alan the best of luck in our retirement, Thank you for all the years of coherent weather forecast and discussion. Enjoy your well deserved retirement. Tony Mondaro Harrison, New Jersey
Absolute Humidity
I remember Alan discussing the possibility of something big coming a few days prior to PDII. And then I remember his reaction to 12Z Euro run the day before the storm, he said something like (Paraphrasing) "And bam! There it is folks, expect blizzard conditions with 18-24" of snow out of this one." The excitement in his voice, I'll never forget.
Hailstoned
The great Stuart Soroka apparently shepherded Alan into the profession.
