Brick Tamland
Who's disappointed because it's not snowing in November? That's like calling hurricane season a dud in June. If anyone expected snow in November, they dont ****ing deserve to post here. It's just the tone of some of the posters. "Well, the models are backing off on the wintry storms now that they showed before. Probably be the same all winter." That sort of thing. It's not even winter yet. And places int he southeast are getting snow earlier than ever. Just setting the stage for when winter actually arrives. The cold we are getting here next week is just a taste. Brick, Is that really you? ;)You know you're endangering your chances for WOTY by saying sensible things like this. That committee could DQ you at any point. They're very strict. Be very careful. Regardless, we know you're the People's Weenie.

packbacker
RaleighWx added stratospheric plots to his weather models, sweet! Looks like there is some OK warming over the next 10 days but then wanes in the 11-15 day period.

nchighcountrywx
Ryan Maue (@RyanMaue) 11/13/14, 10:55 CONUS Lower-48 avg bottomed out at 23.9°F with 2/3 of USA at or below freezing. About 15°F below climate normal. pic.twitter.com/lN4FI0MQoh It caught a lot of us off guard that the relative warmth would hang tough in the far SE. Sure hope that is not a pattern for winter

max100
Yeah, Memphis is a great bellweather for us. It is a whole different region, IMO. No comparisons. A better one would be Atlanta. Whatever ATL gets it usually travels up 85.

BullCityWx
Anyway, especially with weak and overrunning gulf lows, if memphis and nashville get snow, that usually holds true in Charlotte.

BullCityWx
Memphis is a pretty good indicator for ATL as well, jmo. Yeah, I can think of at least 3 examples of that. It doesnt hold with amped up systems but definitely with our typical weak lows that crawl along the gulf.
jshetley
Jan 1988 would be a great example of Memphis getting snow along with ATL, GSP, and CLT.
Chattownsnow
I think some people got a little ahead of season seeing the models depicting January in November. It's like seeing all the present under the tree before Christmas that you can't open. Well we got to open one early. Some people didn't get what they want but it will come. The models typically don't get interesting until mid December on a good year anyways. We have a lot of BIG presents under the tree right now and need to be patient. Lets just hope it's not spring clothes. It's just not quiet time for them to be opened yet lol.

Jonathan
Don't look now, but the radar is really starting to pop since 5pm. Some decent returns in VA/NC right now. Anytime there's a low moving through SC with cold air in place, we should keep an eye out. That can trick the ol' models every once in awhile. Obviously not anything major, but someone in western VA/NC could see some surprise flurries the next couple hours.
