John1122
Currently clocking 12.4 degrees. I doubt I can get down to 11. Amazingly cold for November after a high of 25 yesterday.

Carvers Gap
First White Thanksgiving for me that I can remember!!! Finally cashed in a little bit on this below normal November. Had around an quarter of an inch this morning. Glad you scored some snow, 1234. Here in Kingsport nothing to report i the valley. Though the last 200' of Bays Mountain appear white. We are right at the foot of the mountain. So, it sort-of feels like we had some snow here. LOL.
John1122
Had heavy wet snow last night and snow all day today. Got a re-dusting this evening right around dark.

kvskelton
Was surprised to see a few very light flurries in Kingsport while working around the foot of Bays Mountain this afternoon. Temps in the upper 30s with a light breeze.
Jed33
Talk about a BUST on the temps here. I've been holding at 37 since 1 o'clock this afternoon thanks to the clouds trapped beneath the inversion. This after being clear most of the night and a very heavy frost and icy fog earlier this morning. MRX did update well several times to lower highs, but just yesterday the forecast was upper 40s to around 50. Tough forecasting here lately due to the clouds moving in and out just at the right time to allow maximum cooling both at day and night
John1122
Same here. I've not been out of the 3rd for two days in a row.
Jed33
Just had a light round of sleet here that stuck to the picnic table and eves of rooftops. Really kinda surprised this system made it all the way across the state. Of course it was rain in west TN but looks like middle and now here east TN got to see at least a trace of wintry precip today. MRX issued a WWA I see probably not a bad idea, but man, it sure was light for a WWA. Anyway, kids are on a 2 hr delay here this AM
jaxjagman
probably see some flakes in a few minutes if you're around the Nashville area, won't be much
1234snow
Wonder if this is hitting the ground? See anything Jax? It's funny to see that this is all that is left of the bigger system we thought we would get.

Carvers Gap
For the entire season, I have had about 30 minutes of snow showers or flurries. No accumulation. Not even a dusting. I can drive five miles and folks have had a couple of inches. Elevation wise, I could go 1 mile on the x axis and go 200' on the y and they have had 4-6". John1122
I'm at around 3 inches on the season so far. Which is pretty good before Christmas. Especially good considering it all accumulated in November.
Carvers Gap
WxSouth just posted that a blizzard warning has been posted above 11,500' for Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa in Hawaii. The valleys get screwed there too. LOL!!!
Jed33
Haha so true Carver. I've been to Mauna Kea actually when there was snow there. It was late March of 1992. There was several feet of snow at the summit, but it tapered off extremely fast. The mountain top is above 13,700 ft. or so. However, I would say that only the last 700 ft or so had any snow. It was crazy seeing the snow pickup almost exponentially as you approached the top.
John1122
Happy holidays my friends. I've been posting on various weather forums with some of you since probably 2006 or so. Hopefully we have many more years of weather watching fun.
John1122
Whoops! Meant to post that in the banter thread and post the fact that it's just been a mini-flood everywhere I've went today in here. Definitely a nasty Christmas eve/eve.
