1234snow
-13 at the house! Unbelievable! If the -10 is the low at KRI they broke their record low by 23 degrees! Likely the coldest for many many years.

Windspeed
My low was -12º. I don't think I will see that again for a long time. Also, holy moley the temperature is on the rise! 30 degrees since 8 am this morning! If this keeps up, I won't see any frozen precip at all tonight. lol... John1122
Outstanding Winter, the moisture is reaching faster than models were showing. That's also great Bama, most model runs were showing no snow falling in Alabama at all.

Bango
I don't think i'll hit my forecasted high today, here's hoping I tick a little lower on temps then expected. It's a little nitpicky but maybe every little 1-2-3 degrees if we can sooner then expected precip

zippity
Nice surprise snow in Madison. Temperature has actually dropped a degree in the last hour to 26F. Roads are snow-covered and treacherous; elevated sections of Memorial Parkway are closed.
Windspeed
The fast rise in temps have slowed to a crawl. I've been sitting at 24º for the past hour. Solar heating is probably done for the day as the sun is behind cloudcover as mid-level clouds are rolling into the region. I suppose it will be a slow warm-up through the overnight hours with the southerly flow increasing. May get some snow or frozen precip out of the incoming system yet. GeneR4
Latest sounding in Huntsville/Madison AL shows the WAA has arrived (see link). http://vortex.nsstc.uah.edu/mips/data/current/mpr/sounding.html Snow has transitioned to sleet/frz rain now. Looks like the next batch of precip will be frz rain/sleet. Lots of people stuck on the roads, roads closed/closing... gee, wonder why?
zippity
Roads in north alabama are treacherous and often impassable tonight, and we are expecting up to 0.3' inches of freezing rain in a bit. It's amazing to me how many people have been driving in these conditions.
nrgjeff
Chattanooga to EB picked up an inch to inch and a half of snow when the light to moderate band moved through during the evening (Friday). Hixson and Soddy north of town might have been more. Next batch of precip later tonight for Chatty will probably be freezing rain. Still, the initial snow band worked out well. Everybody downstream enjoy!

nrgjeff
Chatty still has a half inch of crusty snow even as temps sit above freezing this Saturday morning. Credit the very cold ground. Nothing in the trees, so I think we had more sleet than freezing rain overnight, but a friend up late confrims some FZRA. Temps got above freezing as light rain was ending this morning.
