NEG NAO
If we dont get snow around turkey day im willing to bet they're wont be snow until deep into december, like 15-20th IMO. weenies are gonna be makin' those bridge jumps if a snowstorm doesnt occur until after december 15-20th and the main threads here will turn into more of a disaster then they already are - then when we get a legit threat the main storm threads will become unreadable because of all the wishcasting - banter - forum thread hogs - and other nonsense that goes on - just read through the pinned November 2014 thread - most annoying posts are from the posters who only occasionally contribute any posts with their opinion on the current or longer range weather BUT attack other posters for no good reason calling them weeniies - saying they should be banned - etc etc ..........I do have to say though that the 2 contest threads I started lack any of the nonsense...thanks

SnoSki14
90 inches south of Buffalo per NWS. Wow. And a lot more to come. Some are already seeing structural collapses and a few death have been attributed to this event so it will only get worse. I'm sure we'd all love to experience this event but it is at a cost let's not forget.

REDMK6GLI
Feel good story from buffalo. If this doesnt bring a smile to your face dont know what will: BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A woman from south Buffalo went into labor early Tuesday. She had only one obstacle to overcome — the trip to the hospital. After Bethany Hojnacki’s husband Jared dropped off their son with his grandparents, he turned around to head towards a place where Bethany could have her child. On the way, Jared stopped to help a woman get out of her car. That woman turned out to be a pediatric nurse. So when plans to get to the hospital failed, and the Hojnacki’s wound up in labor at a fire hall in south Buffalo, the woman they helped with a random act of kindness was able to help them out. She and the Hojnacki’s successfully delivered baby Lucy Grace Hojnacki just after 9:30 in the evening. “Talk about a god send,” Jared Hojnacki’s father said. “She’s a pediatric nurse but she did do labor and delivery at one time.” The baby is safe. Lucy and Bethany were transported to Mercy Hospital after the delivery.

NorthShoreWx
Impressive amount of total WE from this LES event. I've seen figures of 3". That's a lot of juice from a lake. Question: Which is more snow to move, the 30" we had a couple of years ago with almost 4" WE or 70" with 3" WE? While we are attempting the difficult important questions, which is heaver, a pound of feathers or a pound of lead?

cjr231
There is nothing wrong with being a weenie to a certain degree, just embrace it instead of deflecting it. I don't post much because I prefer to let the people who really know what they are talking about do the analysis though I do have my own ideas and conclusions drawn regarding potential patterns and what not too. Reiterating what is already being said and "cautioning the weenies" is probably just as annoying as ultra weenie behavior to be honest. Just some friendly advice from a predominant lurker. green tube
it's interesting that mainstream media usually fails to mention the it's lake effect snow. so the impression is left (with the general public) that some widespread huge storm is wiping out upstate ny, when in fact it's a local phenomenon. ...although certainly absolutely spectacular one. Obviously this seems like one of the top events if not number one. Ive seen totals over 100" in the Tug Hill region off of Lake Ontario. Here's a couple links to historic events. http://www.wunderground.com/blog/weatherhistorian/lake-effect-snow-totals-and-historical-perspective The NYS record is 10'7" in Montague, NY. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/12/nyregion/12snow.html
