ORH_wxman
I get the 30's on CAA nights in Oct on a cold shot.. Very rare is there an Oct freeze though 2 yrs ago on the morning of the HFD Marathon it got to 28 which I think was the 11th or during that week. Never a frost.. Always go to straight freeze. ORH always has same deal I think you mean Sept freeze....Oct freeze happens every year.

weathafella
I think the last time we had an official freeze in October at BOS was 1997. All good to wait...lol.

Then next was your 1997 and then have to go back 1988.
ORH_wxman
On the flipside, ORH airport has only failed 5 times to have an October freeze....2004, 1998, 1977, 1971, and 1953. At least of those five, the tally is 3-2 in favor of big snow vs dead ratters.
moneypitmike
Excuse the off-topic. Does anyone have a good map that shows average annual snowfalls for GYX CWA or individual ones for Maine and NH? Thanks.
weathafella
Close, 2002 actually achieved it. Then next was your 1997 and then have to go back 1988. 2 of those 3 winters sucked. I think 2002 was one of those anomalous situations where a long run of AOA was broken and we ran it for months.
powderfreak
FWIW, down here in this half way point between a hilltop and a valley, my normals are 76/54 on 9/1 and 67/45 on 9/30. My average date for 30s to start showing up is 9/15 but I think it takes Kevin till November to get there. That's good to know...its nice to have some context for what "seasons in seasons" should be as far as climo normals.

Did you get into the 40s on Saturday morning - Aug 30th? We reached 48 degrees here according to my thermometer. Feels like deep, deep summer out there tonight though! moneypitmike
Dog walking at 5AM FTL Welcome to my world. Didn't you already have a dog? Nothing like a walk in the woods at that hour. Flashlight in hand and every noise is magnified to hyper-alert senses. Just horrible out there this morning--66.0/

(72/70 currently here) Seeing the hole in the mesonet map for this part of CT was my motivation to at least get my station back online. Yes, I did get down to 48/49 on both Friday and Saturday mornings. I know you like this stuff so I hope you're enjoying it! BTW, I should have the Union station back online, probably sometime in October.

CoastalWx
No cold shots like a few folks had been mentioning? Well I didn't say that..but my guess it likely will be AN. You can always have cold shots in AN months..likewise last year we had record breaking heat on the 11th yet it was BN.
weathafella
The last time we had above normal for September at Boston was 2009.
CoastalWx
Of course the pattern could flip after mid month and the month still ends up AN. Just depends on how the + departures stack up. I hope people don't flip out over a warm September.
