Newark will teeter on 90 tomorrow and Thursday and will likely break 90 Friday and Saturday.  Guidance right at 88 - 89 run to run.  Will be close and it looks mainly sunny both days.

This should be one of the warmest first week departures for Newark of the 2000's so far.

Warmest 9/1-9/7 since 2000 at EWR and monthly departure:

2012......+6.1.......+1.3 for month

2010......+6.1.......+3.8 for month

2008......+5.6.......+1.7 for month

Yeah, September really doesn't really give any indication of the winters that will follow. 76-77 was a rare occasion

when cooling began in the summer and intensified into the fall and winter.

To be that far below normal when compared to the 1940-1970 block is insane.

I love cool falls; that would have been amazing for me.

from October 11th to February 7th(120 days) NYC was at least -10 on 46 days using the 1941-70 normals......Over a third of the days...August 31st was -10 with the  lowest August minimum tied...October had two days 29 degrees that was one above the all time record low...

it seemed like all the snowfalls came with west winds...The storms developed off shore after passing us...there was snow and ice on the ground from December 25th to mid February...6" was the max depth...The juicy storms tracked to the west...

Remember that lack of summer after heat in April and frigid fall and winter very well.  I forget but did Feb reverse the below normal streak or was it Mar.  Also if I recall right '77 was a a hotter summer/ Son of Sam etc...

Today looks like a gem.  Sunny temps in the 85 - 90 range.

Dews have dropped in to the low 60s so should feel more comfortable for the normal folks.  For me and the summer extreme wackadoos we'll get by with the lower Td's and continue to enjoy this weather - making up for an all but lost August..
